According to the NFL rules, a horse collar tackle is bringing someone down by the back of the collar, side of the shoulder pads or NAMEPLATE.

quote:

No player shall grab the inside collar of the back or the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, or grab the jersey at the name plate or above, and pull the runner toward the ground. This does not apply to a runner who is in the tackle box or to a quarterback who is in the pocket.


That tackle meets this definition.

I’ll be completely honest I was pissed at the Bengals O line for fricking Joe’s knee last year. Partly because LSU but also because he’s got the potential to be a great NFL QB for the next decade. It would be a shame if his O line ruined that chance.
