Detellier Talks About Spags D-Line Shuffling

I know it's not Brees contract or Bountygate but someone has to do it...
worth a read
...In practice, you can see that Spagnuolo is using 2011 first-round pick Cameron Jordan at both defensive end and defensive tackle, the same role that Tuck had in New York. Of all the Saints defensive linemen, Jordan has the potential to be that good pass rusher and has skills to be effective getting pressure, especially when moved inside in obvious pass rush situations...
...The other defensive piece being moved around is linebacker Martez Wilson. Strictly a middle linebacker in college, Wilson was moved to strongside linebacker last season in his rookie year, and he is now being given every opportunity to be that hybrid stand-up outside linebacker/defensive end like what Spagnuolo had with Kiwanuka.
Kiwanuka is a versatile performer, who can come off the edge strong with a pass rush and also drop back into what Spagnuolo likes in zone coverage sets.
We have seen the same out of Wilson, who is a tremendous athlete and one that really wants to be involved heavily as a pass rusher.
Early in the spring, Wilson told me that he was looking forward to being used more as a pass rusher, which was something he really liked and wanted to do.
---------------------
also for those taking notes-
While there are some interesting free-agent safety prospects in Jerico Nelson, Johnny Thomas and Jose Gumbs, the offensive free agent that has really stuck out in Saints practice is Miami (Ohio) wide receiver Chris Givens.

I don't know what I'm more up led to see, this revamped D-line, or how the new LB corps is going to look.

Chris Givens?
Don't know much about him.
What kind of receiver is he?

kinda funny... I mocked WR Chris Givens out of Wake Forest to the Saints. He went first pick in the 4th Rd

Givens looks promising but I think I remember reading some place that NFL scouts questioned his effort.

Sounds like he can be a deep threat when he's not terribly covered.
Sounds like something we could definitely use.

Anxious to see if Joe Morgan's wheels are still fast too. He was a helluva player when teamed with Concepcion.

I just want some one on defense to step up and be a threat. Looking forward to seeing Lofton this year and I hope Cam and Martez can improve from last year.
I don't think J. Nelson makes the team, but I could see him being a situational player on third and longs from a hybrid S/LB spot.
Do we think Givins even makes the team or is he an Ojo candidate? Not sure how many WRs we need. Colston, Devery, Moore and Toon will be the main guys.

Shitty homer self-serving broadcaster, though. I much prefer our Joe Morgan.
