Turk, great call regarding Jerry and Dan holding out to become Steinbrenner 2.0...

Jerry could've solidified that with more, and more, Super Bowl victories had he not kicked Jimmy to the curb.

Am I complaining... hell no! HAHA

I see the owners as having the negotiating leverage. They are playing this for all it is worth and doing a good job.

They are asking for way more than they want so that when they start "compromising" they can give back on things they don't really want.

I actually think that when it is all over the owners will take a slightly larger piece of the pie and get a rookie pay scale. I think they will give up the 18 games to get it.

Also the owners were all rich before they bought teams. They have a lot more capital to hold out on that the players. The players are only going to hold up their end of the fight for so long before some of them want to get paid.

Optimistic Saints Thought On Extended Lockout:

If this thing drags out into August or even disrupts the schedule there is a bright spot for the Saints. The shorter the period for signing free agents is the more likely they would be retained by their current team. Less competitive bidding and more reaching for immediate security. The Saints being one of the teams with the most free agents, fewer then might bolt for greener pastures.

If what has been leaked bout the what the NFL wants for a rookie scale then I have little hope for them being reasonable.

Everyone wants to stop the Jamarcuss and even the Matthew Staffords who just can't stay healthy, but outside the top 15 picks the draft is a good source of cheap labor. What the NFL is talking about doing is really farther along than most people thought it would be.
