I tell you, that was a great video. Besides his stiff arm, he seems to have pretty good field vision and can read his blocks. I'm not sure about the "catching a pass" but he looks like he'll be a helluva pro RB.

I saw a shite ton of outside running in that vid. Not much "between the tackles."

huh?
95% of the runs in that video start between the tackles. WTF are you looking at?

In the first 1:30, 5 of the 6 plays went b/w the tackles.

looked like alot of reggie "bounce to the outside" to me.

lol, it's not even close.
hitting a hole between the tackles and ending up near the sideline isnt the same as sprinting for the sideline before you even cross the line of scrimmage
another epic Saintard fail

I can agree with you that Wells is a great RB, but I think he might have durability issues.
what say you?

lurch, the biggest saint turd of all, i'm just frickin joking cause ya'll are all deep throating wells. yeah, he's a pretty damn good runner and has a lethal stiff arm.
Posted on 4/2/09 at 11:38 am to Mouth
he only missed 3 games the last 2 years. He missed none 2 years ago, all 3 came last year
i think he could be durable. He wouldnt have to carry it 30 times a game like he did at OSU. They loved to pound it with him, and frankly was all they had at RB.
he'd have Reggie and Pierre to take some carries away from him. It would also take more pressure off Reggie as just a pure RB, and get him into more of a utility role like he was as a rookie.
and of course it would give us a big between the tackles runner that can keep the clock running at the end of the game and hopefully give us some victories that eluded us last year because of that very reason.

good deal
I'm starting to like him more than Moreno, but his hard nosed style worries me a little bit. I'm not worried about past injuries...more about future injuries. I guess the three headed monster could help insure his longevity.
I still want a LB in the first but if they were to choose a RB I'm leaning towards Wells now.

dude, how many times do i have to say that the NUMBER 1 REASON WE LOST GAMES LATE WAS BECAUSE WE LET WING N A PRAYER BOMBS FLY ON US IN THE SECONDARY LIKE A 2 FOR 1 AT A FEMALE SHOE STORE!!! You can get all the 3 and 1 you want, but when you let a team score with 60 yard bombs raining down like heroshima, you'll never keep a late lead. Wells, Moreno, who the frick ever as a RB will not come in here and STOP THE DEEP BALL or pressure the QB to prevent time in the pocket. Just won't happen.
And don't give me that 4th quarter run the ball control the clock bullshite analogy. I don't care how great of a RB you are, you will not get every 3 down and short in every game for 16 games. The saints shut AP DOWN last year. So while Wells would be a good addition, I don't think that is where our first pick should be spent. I promise you, if we had Wells last year, we would still have not made the playoffs.

if we had Beanie Wells(or a big back) and John Carney we make the playoffs last year.
By addressing some concerns in the secondary during FA, its given us the luxury of taking a RB at 14.
A RB would make the biggest impact THIS year than just about any other player in the draft. and our window is closing Brees isnt getting any younger.

Whodat,
its a double edged sword
some fans believe the shitty defense was the reason for the close game losses, and some believe it was the inability to run out the clock.
to each his own I guess...I'm tired of arguing about it.
I want defense first, but if the FO goes RB...I want it to be Wells.

If we had John Carney last year we make it, IMHO, IMO, STFU, GTFO, WYHI, FWIW
ETA: I don't want to see this happen, but picking Wells cannot be a BAD thing....right??

I think we need a game changing, pass rushing OLB to pair with Vilma more than a RB. But that's JMO. Ultimately, because I am a TRUE Saints fan, I will support whatever the FO and coaching staff end up doing with the pick. If it's Wells, so be it. Not my first choice, but hell, if he's a Saint, he's on my team. I still don't think they'll draft him first though. Now, if we could get Wells and Matthews......

Some scouting reports:
Chris Wells
Knowshon Moreno
I know its pointless to try to reason with wdf, but what part of drafting a player to sit the bench do you think is going to help stop the pass? Saints aren't drafting a DE and very unlikely to draft a DT. They're not drafting a MLB. With Porter, Greer, Gay, David, Young and possibly resigning MM, they're not taking a CB in the 1st to sit the bench. With Sharper signing, its unlikely they'll take a safety to sit the bench.
OLB? Strongest defensive possibility, and adding an OLB is not going to cover the deep ball nor instantly pressure the QB. A decent running game that can keep the defense off the field for any length of time longer than last year is that much more rest for the entire defense and less time for the opposing team when they do have the ball. Learn football; this is basic stuff.

Paytons offense is pass first run later. The defense was the achilles heel last year, not the offense. Don't tell me to learn anything son. If anyone needs a lesson, it's your dumbass. We need the defense to get into the top 10-12 to have a legitimate shot at a title. A running back will NOT make that happen. Learn football, son.......
