In college I was pulled over for going 90 on Hwy 30 in St Gabriel (55 MPH speed limit). Cop yelled and me and told me I was an idiot and needed to slow down, but at the end of the night I was sober so he just gave me a ticket and we went our separate ways. Didn't know you could get arrested for that, usually it escalates to being arrested if you're swerving, under the influence, or try to flee/resist but it doesn't sound like any of that occurred. Not familiar with Joe Yenni but from comments and looking at the map it sounds like although the limit is 35 it's more of a thoroughfare than a true residential road. When I think of residential I think of roads where people's driveways are, usually in subdivisions and stuff like that. It seems more kind of like how Bluebonnet is in between Burbank and Nicholson, that's a 30 MPH road but people speed through that stretch all the time, it's 2 lanes on both sides and entrances to subdivisions feed into it, not people's houses or driveways themselves. Feels like way too low of a limit. I drive like a grandpa now as I got older, hopefully Olave learns and corrects his driving habits from this but while I can't condone what he did, I don't feel like I can judge his character from this and personally I think arresting him and suspending him is a bit much. Make him pay a fine and put a ding on his car insurance and move on.

Actually I think he can plea Article 894 which I think costs more than the ticket (Any Lawyers here?) and get the whole matter dropped without dings on insurance.

That's what I was wondering. Why didn't they just give him a speeding ticket?? I mean they allowed him to take his truck home and park it in his driveway. Why not just cite him and tell him have a nice night and stop speeding.

The houses were on the other side of the blvd

Reported that he was returning home from CVS which would logically put him speeding on the residential side. Prior to arrest, cop allowed him to park his car in his driveway about a mile.5 from where he was pulled over. Saved him towing fees.

I agree completely that getting arrested for a speeding ticket is the lamest shite I have ever heard. No drinking, wasn't high, just speeding. This is total bullshite. Move out of Kenner (aka Spanish Harlem) immediately.

The KPD should be ashamed of themselves. Pathetic. He will hall arse out of our organization as soon as his contract is up because the KPD though it would be cute to get publicity. Releasing the cops body cam a few days later to keep the drama going is bush league garbage.

So many holier than thou judgmental men of the cloth on this thread. Never been arrested, living perfect lives, free of any complications and hardship. Just sitting back and dumping on people for running past the speed limit. How mature.

Kenner is garbage. Glad I moved out of that corrupt cess pool 20+ years ago.
