That will never change, although he might be better at football this year.

Funny Carl says that, Bucs haven't had a locally televised game in like 2 seasons. Saints fans actually show up for the games.

At some point in time, they need to a cap to the max one player can make. Ticket prices are getting rediculous.

yeah because teams with sold out stadiums, and waiting lists for season tickets, are just going to help out the average fan and lower prices with if player salaries were reduced.

If player salaries were reduced, and ticket demand stayed the same it currently is, you know what happens?? The owners make more money.

The supply and demand of tickets, changes ticket prices not player salaries

true but the poster suggested a hypothetical scenario where the NFL can suddenly place limits on earnings of individual players, hence the discussion

It still wouldn't change anything. It'd just bring affirmative action to the pizza slice distribution.

I guess I can't argue with that.

In sticking with their theme of signing big free agents without any signing bonuses, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are throwing $12.5 million at former New Orleans guard Carl Nicks in the first year of his contract.

Here’s the breakdown of Nicks’ contract:

He’ll earn $6.5 million in base salary this year and a $6 million reporting bonus. Nicks’ salary will top out at $12.5 million in 2013. His base salaries for 2012 and 2013 are fully guaranteed.

In 2014, Nicks’ salary will drop to $7 million. His salary will be $7.75 million in 2015 and will stay the same in 2016.

--------------------------

can't fault anyone for accepting that paycheck

I would never wish a LeCharles Bentley on him... but I'm just sayin'. I would mind him getting some Fatass Chas Grant-itude with a division rival either.

If they paid Colston & and have the change to go after Grubbs they could have paid him if they wanted him that bad. Obviously, they didn't. There were rumors about his immaturity. You can only give out the elite money to a handful of players on any team. Wise management does that only for the players who exemplify everything you want, not just ball skills.

He was even whining on twitter towards fans:

So now that I leave I'm fat, hope I die, nothing without drew!... Before it was please stay and we love u! Fans like that I don't need..

and his presser:

“The run game, man,’’ Nicks said, when asked what attracted him to the Bucs. “No disrespect to our team (the Saints), but we’re pass first, pass second, pass third, pass fourth, fifth and sixth team and maybe some runs at the end. The Saints have great running backs. But here it’s a little different. We’ve got a big bruiser (LeGarrette Blount). We’re going to pound the ball, pound the ball and go over the top.’’
