No reasonable fear for his life, no shite. Some here will not be happy they aren’t celebrating Hayes’ freedom.

The only issue anyone had with the 1st trial was the fact there was a holdout or 2 on the jury... but at the time 10-2 was good enough to get a conviction in Louisiana

This time... no holdouts on convicting him

Justice is served

Sad that 1 of the Super Bowl Saints was gunned down in the city that loved him so much... all over a road rage incident

I just couldn't get over the fact that Hayes exited his car with a weapon drawn... And he shot Smith in the back...

Will Smith and his entourage caused this, but Cardell is still guilty.

If the roles are reversed, Smith walks.

Smith drove off after rear ending Hayes because he had a blood alcohol level of 0.24, triple the legal limit.

Hayes, who was sober, followed in pursuit. Both men and their friends and got out, fists being throw equally.

Smith was headed back to his car to get a firearm. Hayes had every right to protect himself for fear of being shot by a drunk former athlete known to carry a gun in his ride

Justice was not served. Free Cardell Hayes. He stood his grown.

Who drew a firearm first?
There can be bad decisions all around. But one can cause things to go beyond what is reasonably required.

Justice has been delayed but now it’s properly served. May the Smith family find peace and joy going forward.

You must draw your gun a lot. I mean you can't wait for someone else to right?
Pull that smoke wagon. That crazy white chick yelling at you? Pull it don't wait. Kid smashes your mailbox? Better pull it before they do. You know in this world maybe you should just walk around with your gun pulled all the time. Why wait for someone else to do it first.

Legally... yes

Different state... different laws

But wasn't Zimmerman's head actively being bashed in when he shot Martin?

You can protect yourself from an assault in progress

Same for the old man movie theater/"popcorn shooter"... the defense showed in court he had just been assaulted (had a phone thrown at his face in a dark theater... more than popcorn being thrown in his face) and b/c of that the jury deemed the shooting as self-defense

While I don't agree with some these statements... the overall point he making ain't too far off... Will hands ain't clean in this... didn't deserve to be shot though...

Agreed... Will made mistakes that night

But the issue I would have as a juror is we can get into that circle that Will was going to his car to do... what exactly?

Was he grabbing the gun? Maybe

Was he getting in the car to leave again? Also a legit possibility... as an outside observer we just don't know for sure

They were on a public street... both had a right to be there... and at the moment of the shooting it could not be shown that Will Smith was a clear and present danger (aside for DWI)

Cooler heads should have prevailed for a minor fender bender
Both families lost
Smith with his life and Hayes son without a dad

and Smith and his boys were fighting Hayes and his boys

Smith was losing the fist fight and retreated to his car.

Why would someone that was getting his arse beat, known to carry a gun, retreat to his car?
