he has gotten good pressure this year, just hasnt amounted to sacks.

i think he'll be a good DE in time. Not with high sack numbers, but a steady 3 down player that can get 8 or 9 a year

Will he ever play to the level of a 1st round pick. Was expecting better play out of him.

After 7 games

I'm afraid we might have to wait until 9 possibly 10 WHOLE games or perhaps even gasp his SECOND year.

he is killing in this thread and it has gone unnoticed.

as for Cam's future. I think he can be a good player real soon but he just needs to be surrounded by other players who are good. I think if he is lined up with good defensive tackle play then he will shine.

Plus DEs take time to develop technique, especially those that previously played in a 3-4 (where rushing the passer takes a back seat to occupying blockers) and didn't get much of any (might have been none) training camp.

After 7 games he has no QB sacks or hurries, and only 19 tackles.

Where did you read the stat about QB hurries? The number of tackles he has is pretty good compared to the other first round DL selcetions. Only JJ Watt, Ryan Kerrigan, and Phil Taylor have more tackles than him. They were all selected before he was. I know he doesn't have any QB sacks and that is somewhat frustrating but he will get his as the season goes along. I say he will get 5 or 6 before the end of the year, just a guess.

That's a good theory, and I wish it were true, but he's posting this under his own volition.

19 tackles is impressive for a rookie DL in 7 games. Means he's active on the run. I've seen him collapse the pocket and also chase qbs, coming close but not getting there.

There was 1 play where the qb intentionally grounded it for all intensive purposes but jordan didn't get credit for the sack.

He'll never be a 9-10 sack guy, just not explosive enough but he could get us a lot of backfield stops, pressures, a beast against the run, and 6 -7 sacks a year. Pair him with a better DE on the other side, which we need to do soon in replacing Smith, and we'll be very good.

Also our sack numbers are better this year but could be much better if we had better short coverage on dump off routes. Translation, better lbers. That would allow pressure to get there.

I heard the D-Line coach on the radio the other day and he stated that Jordan would of had 2 sacks on the stat sheet but each time there was a offensive penalty the Saints accepted which negated his sacks. Ya I know woulda, shoulda, coulda.... Just something I heard on the radio.

I still don't know why people thought he was a pass rusher.

He is wonderfully athletic for a man of his size

He ran linebacker drills at the combine, and ran them very well.

He has 9 QB pressures and 2 hits. More importantly, he is excellent against the run. His run defense rating is the highest on the Saints by far. He is 7th in the NFL among all DE's in that category. If you look at the overall picture, he is having a very solid start to what could be a good career.

Cameron Jordan makes me long for Charles Grant.
Grant may have had "some" talent, but was a fat, lazy bastard that quit after he hit the Loomis Lotto. This kid Jordan is a hard, blue collar, hustler that will be good in time. This kid works hard, and thats all you can ask for.
