Surprised by this, big time.

I'm not, Butler was coming off a rookie contract and his next contract will likely be the largest of his career (it's a once in a lifetime type of payday for him).

Saints and Steelers don't have the kind of money to blow on a young up and coming player like Butler.

Cleveland has $$$.

Damn. Maybe he's just maximizing his options. I'm trying to stay optimistic

Well, I hope that's what he wants his career to revolve around, because he won't even sniff the playoffs on that shitty team.

I knew something was up when he didn't sign in Pittsburgh. He's probably priced himself out of anyone's range, which is a little reckless because he's never been anything more than a situational player. Another team like the Colts or Browns might throw more money, but he won't be playing for the wins. Heck, he wouldn't even start in Cleveland. I understand that the interest is/was mutual, but I'm not concerned if we pass him over because of high contract demands.

It's what ALL of their careers revolve around.

Lot easier to chase a ring with 10+ M in the bank. I'd bet 90+ percent of players would take lifetime financial security, over a ring if being honest.

It worked out for Ben Watson ($12 million for 3 years)

Now a Saint!

Motherfricker, I imagine there were people like you saying Drew Brees was washed up when the Chargers gave up on him and the Saints took a huge risk on signing him.

Nnamdi is no Drew Brees but BIG RISKS can equal...

You're right. And there are plenty of other options to make an impact on our secondary out there right now.

Yeah, I'm not ruling Butler completely out either but frick the Browns if they end up signing Kruger and Butler.

They've been irrelevant for so long, they need some success

I've always said browns get a above average QB and they will be relevant...they did it with Derek Anderson and now they have Richardson and are putting together a stout defense.

They've been searching for a legit QB for like forever.

They've had a solid defense for some time now.
They just haven't been able to put it together offensively.
