The Falcons have some glaring holes on defense, yet they didn't address them.

They overpaid for a WR who may help their offense, but then they won't stop anyone.

Much of their success last year came down to luck. That won't repeat this year (as we found out in 2010).

I see them as 10-6 AT BEST.

Tampa, on the other hand, play solid on both sides of the ball and will not be an easy out any week of the season. They are built the right way and are well coached. They are young, and will be a force to be reckoned with.

True.

But it's more entertaining when we do.

He can't let it go....he couldn't produce one accolade or coherent argument, just "Roger Staubach said"...well he did find a worthless UPI player of the year award, but thought it was the same one handed out today. Gotta love wikipedia.

I don't think the Failcons will have the same luck that they had last year. Seemed like every break went their way. Like us in 09.
+1 They won some games last year but when you watch them there's no part of their game that's overly impressive.

I think the bucs have a well balanced offense. I particularly like their running game, especially with Freeman being a little mobile.
That said, their defense is getting better but it still needs to be seen.

Atlanta is a good team.. I just feel they shot their load last year. I don't see Jones improving them that much and their D is getting worn down quickly. As someone mentioned Turner slowed down a bit (he is still a bitch to tackle) and if D-lines can abuse the the falcons serviceable but not great o-line, Turner and Ryan can be taken out the game.

Overall, the bucs should surpass them. But the Saints are still the team to beat in the South.

*straightens tie....
frick the Falcons!

And I think a lot of it was the unexpected factor. Who thought they'd be 13-3? certainly not I.

Any substantive reasons why you think TB falls to 8-8? They were clearly a team on the rise these past 2 seasons, and if you think Freeman is going to "surpass Ryan" than how the hell are they going to only go 8-8?

I think they surprised a lot of teams last year. They are also very young. It sometimes takes teams a few years of hovering right under playoff contention before they make that next step. For a team as young as they are, having a lengthy lockout that prevents the younger guys from learning/getting plugged into the system will hurt more than it will veteran teams like the saints and the falcons. Remember they beat nobody with a winning record other than us last year (after we pulled starters). I meant that Freeman will have a better career than Ryan will (his ceiling is much higher IMO).

#1) How are the Saints the team to beat when the Falcons won the NFC South last year (albeit both teams are good)?

#2) Much like others have pointed out - the Bucs didn't beat teams with winning records.

However, I recently read the ESPN article discussing salary caps and the Bucs have a TON of money to spend once the lockout is over. The Falcons and Saints do not have much.

All the talk about the Falcons not getting any Defensive players in the draft is mute - they'll pick up Edwards from Min. in FA and he'll be more game ready than a rookie DE (which you guys will soon learn about).

Go Falcons - NFC South Champs AND we don't pee on other teams logo's...

Talk can't be "mute" by definition. Oh, wait, you meant "moot"...

He did so much against the Saints the last two times they played against him.

It's "logos".

Your post is further evidence that Falcons fans are fricking retards. And they're also retards.

So your argument is to pick on grammar?

Wow - I'm devastated coming from a fanbase that says "Geaux" and "Who dat!?".

But lemme guess, fan base needs to be 2 words and "lemme" isn't a word?

No, I presented my argument earlier in the thread.

You should be if you don't understand the cultural and historical significance of those terms. But you lack the intellect to understand that. Clearly.

"Lemme" is slang. "Moot" is not.

I know, this is more complex than what you can handle.

As far as myself saying Saints are still the team to beat.... I'm willing to bet that when pre-season rankings and polls start shooting out the saints will rank higher than the Falcons. Therefore , team to beat.

I gave the Falcons their props. But this will be our year.

vilma4prez, I hate to admit it - but I think you're right this year.

I think the Saints had an amazing draft. Jumping up to grab Ingram was a steal (assuming his knee is back and won't get re-injured but that's life).

Ingram very well may get ROY and if he does - that means the Saints will have 11+ wins pretty easily.

The Falcons have a lot of issues to me. DE who can rush the passer (just see the Packers game). As well as rebuilding the O line assuming it gets plucked via free agency.

However, the O for Atlanta should be able to compete with anyone assuming Mike Mularkey stops with the dink-n-dunk style Offense.

And your secondary...

If he doesn't stop that nonsense, I'M going to kick his arse, and I hate the Falcons!

Decimated with injuries in a hostile environment against a team with nothing to lose. Still was close and we put up hella points, just gave up easy bombs.

Falcons got destroyed AT HOME with a healthy team. Who's mad?

Was waiting for that reply! Damn right I'm mad! We should've played better but the secondary got picked apart. Couldn't get any pressure but the DE's didn't have a chance as the secondary was too busy getting smoked.

I don't make any excuses though. We got flat out spanked by a better team that day!

But the fact that you guys are the only team to ever lose in the playoffs to a team with a losing record... ouch! To make excuses is well, pathetic.

Having no fans in the stands in the second half of that complete utter arse whooping by green bay at home is the ultimate in 'pathetic' to me.
