According to Nick Underhill

quote:

The Saints have restructured Michael Thomas and Terron Armstead’s contracts to open up more cap space, according to a source. Janoris Jenkins’ deal remains unchanged but that could happen down the road if additional space is needed

Can also extend Jenkins to save that $11M cap hit he’s due. This is most likely for Jenkins but could also be for Chris Harris Jr.

Janoris is a good #2, but 11.0 mil just seems a little too steep.

I'm assuming we get that cap # down eventually.

which punts cap to the future. Oh well. I hope we find a few diamonds in the ruff while we still can.

As a much lower % of overall cap making it the right move either way, especially with extra cap space rolling over year to year

I we went multiple years during our rebuild with way too much in dead cap space for players who did not produce while striking out in the draft. As long as we continue to draft near the level we’ve been lately OR continue to hit on the higher priced FAs, we’ll be fine

We survived the Byrd, Junior, and Graham dead hits, along with a lot of others, and rebuilt the roster as soon as Ireland came along while paying a QB top positional money (unlike now). We can manage this fine and retool after 1 year of a tighter cap window

Yep. Hopefully the Saints can strike gold and get to another SB in the next year or two because in about 5 years the New Orleans Saints will look like and NFL Europe team.

This apparently saved us 15 million. Now what are we going to spend it on?

Y'all really need to calm down. When has this actually come true? We'll deal with Drew's dead money while Taysom is on a much smaller deal and the new CBA is going to jack the cap up. If you can't trust Loomis, Ireland, and Payton by now you're just paranoid.
