Why do you want them to make the playoffs? I'm just ready for it to all be over.

There are only two types of saints season under Sean Payton. There’s the dominant 12-4 or better record that ends in a disappointing playoff loss or the .500 missed playoff/one draft pick off of the guy we need record.

Yes they would. Philly at 10-7 would get the 6. Minnesota, and the saints and the 49ers at 9-8 would go to Minnesota

they play the Rams in week 18... and the Rams could be battling GB for the bye & HFA or battling the Cardinals for the division title (which means a home game)... so there's a high chance the Rams will be motivated for that week 18 game

not gonna even care about their game this week against the Texans

Id believe you, but i just ran this very scenario through the espn playoff simulator and the vikings get in.
Also, what you described is definitely not how tiebreakers are awarded. Them losing a game to one of the teams doesnt factor into a multi team tiebreaker

No 49ers would have had to swept games against Vikings AND Saints otherwise it goes to conference record, then common games, then strength of victory. H2H between 2 teams in a 3 team tiebreaker is irrelevant unless one team played both other teams.

Edit: Also you are using in-division tiebreakers as wild card tiebreakers which are two different scenarios. In-division record doesn’t matter for teams not in the same division.

I'm rereading the tiebreaker scenarios right now... and yeah you're right... I did do it incorrectly so I'll eat my L on that 1

that said... the Vikings play the Packers in Lambeau on SNF this week... so I'm gonna assume the Packers win and we don't have to worry about this anyway

I hope, but it feels like the Pack are always that team that we can depend on to always do whatever is most detrimental to our team

incorrect sir

Vikings are eliminated in that 3-way tie by the fact that they lost a game to the 49ers

Saints then win the tiebreaker with SF due to better in-division record (a 9-8 Saints = 4-2 in NFC South; a 9-8 49ers = 2-4 at best and possibly 1-5 in NFC West)

That's not how it works.

The loss to SF doesn't matter since the Saints didn't play either team.

quote:

Three or more teams
(Note: If two teams remain tied after the third step or other teams are eliminated, tiebreaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-team format.)
1. Apply division tiebreaker to eliminate all but the highest-ranked team in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tiebreaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two wild-card participants.
2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one team has defeated each of the others or if one team has lost to each of the others.)
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in conference games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
12. Coin toss.

Edit: I see this has been answered already. Sorry.

Roger Goodell used Covid-19 protocols to eliminate the Saints from the playoffs against the Dolphins.

It just hasn't sunk in yet for you.

The players were probably told to keep quiet when the entire team got randomly tested.
