He is great, except for 3rd down play calling.

That was what? 3-4 years ago?! How do you honestly think the year off affected his coaching ability?
NOT flaming-honestly want to hear what you think.

Sean Payton needs a "Bill Parcells" type of GM to be the boss of the team and all player personnel acquisitions.

We once thought that Payton was another Bill Parcells, but, Payton is not even close to being another Bill Parcells.

I think he used to be a great offensive mind. Still is but his play selection at times is terrible. That said, hes always been a terrible HC. Hes way too loyal(blackmailed) to his really shitty position coaches, falls in love with players, is terrible at talent evaluation and doesnt seem to hold players accountable. Has always built really soft teams.

Not sure that is accurate at this point. The last few years he's been cutting, trading, benching guys left and right regardless of contract.

Just to remind some of you people:

2006: 10-6 Playoffs
2007: 7-9
2008: 8-8
2009: 13-3 Superbowl
2010: 11-5 Playoffs
2011: 13-3 Playoffs
2012: Bountygate
2013: 11-5 Playoffs
2014: 7-9
2015: 7-9
2016: 5-8

3 straight losing seasons is a problem, but he has earned another season. We had some solid draft picks and the team looks to be improving here and there.

That said, next year is make or break. The loyalty to dogshit position coaches, the inability to find a DC, the refusal to address major needs in favor of "project players", the fact that McMahon is still employed, the unbelievablely retarded idea of passing 70% of the time including empty set shotgun on 3rd and short or on the goal line, the 3 yard under routes on 3rd and four, the lack of fire from the side lines, it's a problem.

Unfortunately the reality of the situation is as long as Benson is alive Loomis and Payton are not going anywhere so we all better pray they turn this franchise around. One of them needs to nut up and clean house on defense. Go hire a hungry DC and let him bring in all his own guys.

Jeff Ireland has proven to be a solid talent scout and draft consultant. Go get a DC to work with him.

Dennis Allen, a card carrying member of the crossfit mafia, is not the answer to our problems.

Ill copy she paste this to every one of you fricking idiots:

Mark Ingram Ranks in the NFL:

Attempts: 22nd
Yards: 17th
YPC: 2nd
Longest: 2nd
And one of the lowest fumble percentages in the NFL.

Payton almost never gives him the ball, but when he does actually run the football he is statistically one of the best in the league.

A coach's job is to put the team in a position to win, it's the player's job to win the game. We had 2 TD passes dropped and another miss on a wide open Cooks. We've lost 3 games by blocked kicks. Go back to 2014 where we had 3-4 leads under 2 minutes and our D was in 3rd and long situations or 4th and long and gave up big plays.

There are definitely things Payton has done wrong but he has put the team in many positions to win where the players failed to pull it out. Neglecting the Oline and kicker situation the last few years has been my biggest knock on him. A kicker will win or lose you 5-6 games a year, that position is way to important to have a revolving door at. I know we drafted Peat and picked up Unger but that's about it over the last several years.

I'm not sure how many draft picks we have this next year, I'm thinking 6? I hope we get at least 2 Olineman and another Dlineman out of it. And still pick up a top FA G in the process.

And yes, the neglecting the run game pisses me off. He needs to hand the keys over to Carmichael for OC.

I still remember the fawning last year when it was announced he was signed to an extension. One poster even started a thread saying "The NFC South is FRICKED" as if the extension of Payton meant absolute domination by the Saints.

The love affair is lunacy. He should've been gone last year, but we will continue to be stuck with him because 7 years ago still defines today. I guess Shanahan should still be coaching in Denver?

Dont forget, they were 7-9 in 2012, the Bountygate year without a head coach.

In 2014 and 2015 they won the same number of games WITH a head coach.

This year they will not win as many games as they did without a head coach in 2012.

I've never liked Payton. Even when the Saints won the Super Bowl I didn't care for him. He had one really great year and that's about it. Once the league figured him out it was all down hill after that.

In all honesty, this is absolutely one of the most ignorant statements made in the history of this board. Think about that for a while and then think about what it says about you.
