I love that back in like the 60s & 70s... the fields were done up like the Super Bowl EVERY WEEK

case in point... this random Rams/Saints game (the Saints franchise opener) at Tulane Stadium

It’s true mate - for the Tom Dempsey kick one of the Tulane Stadium endzones had “LIONS” painted in it.

Here’s a really pretty Tulane endzone. This was a Saints / Falcons game in the early 1980’s - doing some research last night I found that the Dome switched to the solid black coloured endzone with “SAINTS” painted in it in 1983 and kept that for the rest of the decade - at least on the one side.

Lazy prick Doug Thornton would have revolted at the idea of painting the opposing teams logo in the Poydras St endzone every week as the Saints did at Tulane Stadium from 1967 to 1970 That’s actually a Giants goalpost pad - I wonder if the opposing teams would bring their own pad on request or if the league shipped them from stadium to stadium?

Unfortunately the Saints switched to an awful plain artificial turf for the 1971 season, ending this great tradition and likely shortening Archie Manning’s career in the process
