We were not winning the super bowl in 2002 if we made the playoffs.

Why do you think they didn’t have a chance? They beat the Super Bowl champ twice that year. Plus, if they had inserted Delhomme as the starter and shelved Brooks for the season after he hurt his shoulder, who knows what they could have done.

2002 was so frustrating because of Haslett’s stubbornness. I remember thinking we would never make the playoffs under his leadership again after that Carolina debacle. Jake is standing on the sidelines ready to go, yet he put in an injured Brooks who could barely throw an accurate screen pass that entire day. Not to mention, the entire Dome booed him every time he went into the huddle while he grinned about it.

As for “what could’ve been” that year. Remember that we had a Rick Venturi lead defense that gave up less than 20 points only once that entire season. And it was against Carolina in that last game (10-6 score).

Our first loss was the Lions’s first of 3 wins that season. Not much more you gotta know.

This! Our D was unreal and our offense played complimentary the entire season. To not make the playoffs that year was gut wrenching.

That Sunday night game was the one where Lawrence Taylor couldn't lift his arm above his shoulder and still made plays all over the field.
That SOB.

2002 sucked but I still loose sleep over the loss to San Francisco in the playoffs in 2012? and of course the blown call.
