Would a starting lineup with Tyreke at PG and Jrue at SG work?

I'm not as knowledgeable when it comes to the fundamentals of basketball as most of you chaps. I really never got into bball until around the cp3 era. Anyways, I think we all believe tyreke has proved he should be a starter on this team but seems to do his best work as a ball dominant pg. Jrue is a much better shooter than Reke more fitting of a SG. If we can somehow move EG or if monty gets the balls to bench him could this lineup prove successful? Would jrue be able to succeed in this scheme or does he have to be at the point to truly do his best work?

I think Tyreke and Jrue could work interchangeably at the 1/2. Jrue is a good enough shooter to play the 2 sometimes and gives us the ability to switch it up. I just hope it's obvious EG needs to be coming off the bench at this point.

Sure. They'll both take turns initiating the offense, regardless. And Jrue will still guard the opposing PG, Tyreke the opposing SG.

We saw some of this the few times they got to play together

So you're a bandwagon fan?

But to answer your question, I think the combination can be interchangeable and definitely work. Just hopefully this sends EG to the bench.

pretty much. I never was that into basketball because we didn't have a team when I was growing up. So it took me a couple of years and a little persistence by friends and relatives who were hornets fans to get me to start watching and get excited for bball

As you'd expect, most of Tyreke's 2 man lineups are negative +/-. Big exceptions are Tyreke/Jrue & Tyreke/Ryno.. both around +6 per 100 poss

Jrue played SG in college for FWIW he can still play there bc he can shoot well we just need a 3 and D guy at SF with them.....

Can someone say it's Darius Miller time?

Am I blinded by fandom and being a complete homer for saying I'm actually half way serious about Darius?

Small sample size, but MM did some analysis earlier in the season.

quote:

- The top Two-Man combination for the Pelicans this season? You guessed it: Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans. In the 328 minutes that the combo has played together, the Pelicans are +83 (a little more than +12 per 48 minutes). The free throw rate skyrockets up to 33.8% (up over 9%). The teams field goal percentage climbs more than 5%, as does the three-point percentage. Meanwhile, the opposition’s free throw rate goes down and their turnovers go up.

...- The top three-man lineup? Jrue, Evans, and Ryan Anderson. #2? Jrue, Evans, and Anthony Davis. Anybody see a pattern here?

...- Best four-man unit by a mile? Yep, Jrue, Evans, Anderson, and Davis. That is the core of this team moving forward and what a core it is. Per 48 minutes, they outscore their opponent by over 20 points while having a rediculously low 10.6 team turnover percentage.

quote:

- Bringing this back to Tyreke vs. Gordon, Jrue’s numbers soar even higher when he is on the court with Tyreke. MUCH higher FG% and 3-point percentage. Fewer turnovers and nearly twice as many steals on a per minute basis. Pelicans are also 8.8 points per 36 better with Jrue and Tyreke on versus when Jrue is on w/o Tyreke.
