if he can play 55-60 games
I doubt he ever plays that many NBA games for the rest of his career.

ZERO pressure to become a league MVP.
The pressure on him will be to have a mediocre career at this point. No one besides Student thinks he will be an MVP.

we need to nab a big man like Oden or we could end up struggling early on.
Because Oden will not have any struggles early on??? Dude hasn't played a game since 2010. He may be rusty.

Don't forget, he also had a drinking problem during rehab.
I am not saying he is perfect, I am just saying we need a big man like him. Jason Smith is a fan favorite and is a solid contributor but we need someone else. Withey needs some work before we can just assume he will be the bees knees of Centers.
Oden is a gamble but it is def worth the risk. If he fails, no big deal. We can move on and try something else. But if he doesn't fail and ends up being a Ben Wallace type, we will have a legit defense to go with a solid offense.

Ben Wallace was a 4xDPOY
With all due respect, I think your expectations of what Oden can bring to this team are a little on the unrealistic side
He'll most likely be a 10-12mpg energy guy, who comes in to give the C position some rest... He may also be used in certian defensive situations (end of game situations, to protect the rim). Never a 20-25mpg guy who can anchor a defense.

Is this ironic in a post about Greg Oden?
