Breaking news.. Coaches get fired every year, in every sport, for having players with potential. For having players go down with injuries. For always having excuses.

This is a win now business. Would I like to see the Pels win with Monty as coach, yeah. I just don't want to be in this for another 2 to 3 years with y'all coming up with all these same, played out, woe is Monty excuses.

The one year he had some actual talent, he helped bring us back to the playoffs

The team barely grabbed the 8th seed with one of the top 3 players in the league. The credit for the playoff birth goes to Paul. They made the playoffs almost every year Paul was healthy, there was no reason they shouldn't have made the playoffs with him.

quote:

The year after that, he kept one of the least talented rosters in the NBA competitive in plenty of games where they were overmatched

Last years team wasn't untalented. They had a loaded front court and tons of veteran players. They intentionally held guys out and exaggeratted injuries to get a better lottery pick. I don't blame them for it, but winning a 1/3 of your games isn't ever something to brag about or hang your hat on.

quote:

He's done a very good job so far with this roster with everyone completely healthy, but that much youth and inexperience is hard to overcome for any coach

It's been a tough year. I knew they would be bad, but I had higher hopes for Davis as an impact player and Rivers, who is just horrible offensively. Lopez, Anderson and Vasquez have been alot better than I thought. But Smith and Aminu have been too up and down.

I'm not holding this year against Monty. But I don't think he should get a ton of credit as well. When someone says that he is one of the best coaches in the league, I take that to mean top 5 or 10. There is just nothing that proves that. But they have to get much better next year and make a run. No coach should be under .500 three season in a row, in the NBA. He will be on the hot seat as he should be..

The Lakers have arguably the best center AND the best shooting guard along with one of the best point guards to ever play the game and they might not make the playoffs this year. I don't see how you can dog Monty for getting the 8th seed 2 years ago and giving the Lakers a better series than anyone expected. Clearly talent can get you so far but good coaching is necessary to be successful.

Look, Monty has to do something next year, no doubt. But he and Demps have been in a tough situation from day one, and I think they've done a good job, all things considered. Next year is the true test.

Ditto. If they look like shite next year then it may be time for him to go. I can guarantee you the next time there is a thread talking about Monty like this brmark (as always) and gtothemoney will be in it. They thrive in this type of shite like pigs in the mud.

I don't blame Monty yet. But I don't know where guys keep getting this from. There is nothing to back that up. He has been coaching for less than 10 years and is only in his 3rd year as a head coach. I hope it gets better, but that is a bold thing to say.

yep....most loved 81-110 coach of all time.

...i don't think he's a bad coach, but one of the best in the nba? cmon.

And if they make a nice run into the playoffs next year, Gtothemoney will be the first to say that Gtothemoney was wrong.

Where else in professional sports, or for anywhere in any profession, underperform 3 years straight, and expect to keep your job? I'll tell you where...an unsuccessful business.

So since Ariza played out of his mind Monty don't get any credit for the way they competed in that series? C'mon son.

Of course not. But he gets most of the blame for Brian Roberts, Austin Rivers, Lance Thomas, etc. not playing like stars.

You can't be serious? Ariza was a starter on a championship team. That shouldn't impress anyone that he shows up and plays big in a series. Great job Monty.

Get more out go Rivers, Thomas, Roberts,...great coaching Monty.

Y'all mutha frickas crack me up.

Seriously, you're giving him no credit for taking a good roster to the playoffs, yet you're dogging him for having a losing record 2 years in a row with 2 of the least talented teams in the league.
