Noticed that too when looking for the Pelican logo.
Difference being, the breakers used the 84 logo as inspiration compared to being 100% ripped off logo and changing colors like the Pelican one.

any graphic designer worth a shite could use that Pelican logo as reference and come up with something similar without totally ripping it off.
replace the umbrella with a basketball, change up how he looks a little, change colors, make him look somewhat heterosexual, boom, we have ourselves a new logo.
