Is that first top 29 protected?
If not then no thanks.
in that scenario i said lottery protected 24 1st, and we would be getting back a 24 Houston 2nd and 4 more seconds.
Do you really care if we have the 20th pick in the draft this year, or if we have the 36th pick and a slew of other future 2nds so we could move up to the 20th pick if we really wanted to?
To me the value between the 20th pick and the 36th pick isn't that big of a difference.
We would be out of the tax this year, and would be able to go into next year with the ability to actually sign someone to the full MLE if we wanted to, and still be well under the tax.

You can write as much as you want explaining your rationale but in no basketball realm does trading JV/Nance for Richards/Wiseman make us a better basketball team.
Richards as a backup sure I guess. But I’m not giving him starter minutes at center against contending teams in the west to go against guys like AD, Jokic, Gobert.
Wiseman is an absolute joke the dude doesn’t get minutes on a pistons team and is stuck behind Duren, Stewart, and Bagley. Forget his offense, his defense is atrocious and quite honestly he wont be in the league for long.
I like OG but we been down that road before and Masai is just looking to fleece people.

Way to much, I don’t care how many seconds you get back. You’re trading a first round pick to get worse as a team, and you know that the players you’re getting are worse than the players you currently have.
This is called a bad trade, and it’s not something we will do.
Now if you want to throw out a Val and Kira with a protected 1st for something like Gafford and Kispert then I’ll listen, but I and 99% of people on this board will not entertain a trade that makes us worse, as will the front office.

so who do you want to bring on to stop those guys?
Gafford isn't big enough to slow down any of those guys.
JV is big enough, but he's never done well against Jokic.
If you want an opinion that no one is going to like, Ben Simmons is the best defender at the 5 in the league. He's big (240lbs), athletic and can switch onto anyone on the court and be an elite defender, and a very smart defender when going up against someone like Jokic who's got the size on him. He's an excellent rebounder and is elite at starting the fast break, and then it all goes to shite in the half court offense.

I actually like Gafford but you completely lost me when you said Ben Simmons. He is the exact type of player you don’t want on your team.

I didn't say i wanted him, i said i think he's the best defender at the 5 in the nba, really at any position.
But of course the problem is he has issues, so no i would not want him, although once he's done with his albatross contract, then i would absolutely take a flyer on him.
explain to my how Gafford helps us against Jokic? He's actually smaller than Nance.

I know I mentioned Jokic but also mentioned other bigs in the West. In all actuality, its hard to get anyone to “specifically” deal with Jokic. Gafford is much better shot blocker and solid rebounder. He may weigh less than Nance but is also 3 inches taller, and younger. I think at this stage, Gafford is a much better player than Nance and gives a younger guy who can shot block and play defense. He definitely would be an upgrade over Nance whether he specifically matches up with Jokic? Who knows. But I would say I give him a better chance to battle him and other bigs like Gobert, AD, Chet, Kessler, Looney, etc.

I don't necessarly disagree. I think a healthy Larry from 2 years ago once he put some bulk as he aged is better than Gafford, but Larry has never been healthy. Larry has a ridiculously long wingspan that makes up for being a bit shorter than most 5's.
I would really like to get Gafford. I dont think there's another 5 in the league that can stop Jokic, excpet Embiid, and maybe AD if he wasn't such a vagina, so trying to trade for someone specifically for Jokic is silly. The only way to stop him and the Nuggets is to play good team defense, and be better offensively.
I also dont' think Washington is looking to get rid of Gafford.
A guy like Gafford who can protect the rim and also be competent on the perimeter when he has to switch is exactly what we need. I could care less about the offense, just be a pest on the boards and catch the ball and dunk it when it's passed to you.
