There is no difference maker in this draft, therefore we should try to trade the pick for an established starter. Jmo

He's about the only one I wouldn't mind taking, but not quite sure of a difference maker.

Oladipo is a guaranteed difference maker on the defense end. He is a smart dude, and got better every year
the improvement in his shooting shows how hard of a worker he is to go along with that freakish athleticism.
I also like that he played his best ball in the biggest games this season in the regular season(At one point I think he averaged like 20ppg against top 25 opponents)
quote:True he struggles at times with his handle and creating but outside of the PGs this a concern with every player in our range, but I'd rather take the risk on Oladipo gettting better at that than the other guys.
He's a spitting image of AFA, except in a SG form. No offensive game except for finishes around the rim. Athletic but no real finesse. Not going to create his own shot.

Monty can't risk any more risks. He'll surely get canned.

Ive watched other drafts. MJ didn't have a great mid range long range shot coming in either... this kid has improved his shot this year, good form. He would run screens off top of the arc perfectly with AD and he is a good catch and quick release shooter when need be. He has been called one of the best defenders in the draft.

Ok, I'll play GM. Give me somebody like DeMar DeRozan. We're not gonna get a 1st tier player, but I'll take an up and comer like DeRozan.

Noel's length and shot blocking ability allow him to step in and be a difference maker right away
McClemore's can shoot and get to the goal. He is a refined offensive player.
Porter has NBA SF size already and has a complete game.
Smart has great size for an NBA PG that will allow him to get minutes right away on an NBA.
Burke is a complete PG.
Oladipo's redeeming quality is hustle, athleticism, defense. So we are going to hopefully shuffle out a guy like Aminu at SF and usher in the same type of player at SG? Idk.
I would be fine trading for a player, too. I don't care where new players come from as long as they help us win.

Name this player
Draft Profile pre NBA
hint: He's one of the most disappointing rookies this season. Plays for a bad team and has had ample opportunity to improve and make an impact. Im not saying 1 rookie season makes a player, but these types of players are better suited at joining winning teams and growing gradually, rather than stepping in on horrible teams as a centerpiece.
Draft Profile pre NBA
quote:
Strengths: _____ is a strong, athletic player who possesses the intangibles that can't be taught ... He's at his best in open space, whether it's in the half court or transition ... While most use separation to rise and fire, ____ uses it to build momentum and fearlessly attack the basket ... Excellent finisher at the rim with explosive leaping ability, soft hands and the ability to adjust in mid-air ... Tremendous length allows him to effortlessly finish plays with dunks ... Also able to absorb and finish after contact ... Moves well off the ball terms of angling his cuts as a slasher ... Does not need the ball to be effective or impact a game ... Though not known for his jumper, showed some promise spotting up when his feet are set ... Strong, aggressive rebounder thanks to his relentless pursuit of the ball, non-stop motor and athleticism ... Lockdown defensive potential with the versatility to guard to 3-4 different positions ... Physical on-ball defender with a high awareness level off the ball ... Has a desire, intensity and will to win that elevates his status into elite level despite not having elite skills or potential ...
Weaknesses: Jack of all trades, master of none ... _____ biggest weakness surrounds his inability to create his own shot in the half court ... Sometimes too intent on getting to the rim when a short pullup is the better play, which he hasn't consistently shown he has in his arsenal... Lacks range on his jump shot, and won't be considered a stretch-threat by opposing defenses ... Shooting motion has a hitch in it, which will be an issue as he looks to extend his shooting range ... A bit undersized at the next level to get the same easy buckets he got in college ... Could use some work as a ball-handler on the perimeter ...
Overall: Though he doesn't have the typical upside of a top 2-5 pick, he poses zero risk when you consider his intangibles and physical tools ... Instead of saying he has a low ceiling, it's more appropriate to say he has a high basement ... There's not a team in the league that doesn't have a need for what _____ brings to the table ... He's a two-way player that can contribute in a number of a different ways, and while he's not going to compete for any scoring titles, his strengths can inspire teammates and energize a fan base

Scouting report
+ Big wing with elite athleticism and nonstop motor. Tough, aggressive.
+ Outstanding finisher but poor outside shooter. Draws fouls.

I thought this was Marcus Smart until you said last years draft

You're acting like Michael Kidd-gilcrest has had a terrible year or something.....

my guess- MKG

It's mkg but he's not having that bad of a year

Idk. Kidd-gilchrist?
But that's my point. We need starters. We can't rely on the JuJu's and Hilton Armstrong and Quincy pondexter.
Hopefully Demps can pull off a nice trade for us.

could be Tim Robinson maybe...

I agree. He has no NBA offensive game, but we knew that. He hit the rookie wall pretty hard, but hes been fine overall. Tough to stand out as a defensive glue guy on such a miserable team.
Anyone still think Biyombo for Anderson straight up is a good deal?
Mr. Gerrity?

Would people flip out if Demps did a Gordon/Evans swap?

Mkg will be a good sf in time. Forward is a different position, couple inches kills u. Mkg is not as personable or athletic as dipo and has some mental deficiencies. He got to be sucha high pick for winning title game while dipo has been shining on his own all season. Dipo has solid attitude that would help change the locker room.. would be good with gordon as thry are from the same c ollege and have talked. Would be great replacement for gordon. Just different styles again, mkg is soft and scared. I wouwouldn't pick dipo at 2nd but he's best for the team and best available at our position. Did u watch him in the tourney? At times he was carrying the team. Before when they played burke he guarded him like a champ.

Yeah true if anybody expected him to come in the nba and light it up offensively, they clearly had never watched this guy. He's always been a great defender and could be the 2nd or 3rd best player on a good team
