It’s gotten to the point that people are undervaluing what he does on D. He’s not great by any means and obviously has a lot of limitations, but the dude lead the league in DRB% last year and is at 30% this year which is excellent and needed when your other forwards are Zion and BI. He always fouls at a really low rate. You can have a passable defense when your center does those two things.
Exactly and while he's not a rim protector by any means, he's still a big frick guy that you cant just go over. Compared to nance who is 6'7 and you can pass the ball right over hime

That is the disappointing part Dinky. The organization appears a step late with its moves. Going back to Favors, you had an idea for the type of Center that would fit with BI and Zion. You certainly knew after Adams.
Val has been good for the Pels, particularly when the pace slows, but this team is at its best at a much higher pace. I don't even know if you come off Val because the Pels really need (2) additional front-court players and to come off 1 or 2 wings to balance the roster.
Pels also have similar issues at point, that they've neglected. For all the point BI and Zion noise, Pels haven't addressed who's guarding the opposing team's point or who's distributing the ball to your best scorers, particularly in clutch minutes. BI and Zion can still be primary ballhandlers with an additional ballhandler in the lineup (think Mike Conley). Again, another off-season question to solve, just disappointing when the Pels are close now.
I hope Pels prove me wrong, but right now I'd give odds to Nuggets or TWolves coming out the West with the Mavs as a dark horse, Denver and Minny are solid at the point and pivot position with Dallas looking like it solidified those positions at the deadline. Pels may surprise, they have the horsepower, just don't think they have the right horses.
