Bey is just a much better player than I realized. He’s a great complimentary player. I feel like he’s exactly who we wanted James posey/solomon hill/mo Peterson to be when we desperately needed a sf to complete the team.
We need like 2 more Saddiq Beys on this team. Idk who they are but Weaver needs to go find them

Yeah we need to trade Herb while we can. That contract is going to turn horrible

Legitimately 7 straight bricked 3s in 7 straight possessions
That’s a losing player if i ever saw one

The Poole trade might’ve been worse than giving up an unprotected 1st.

Can the Jose experiment please be over? This guy is not a nba player

Herb is absolutely horrible
I don’t know what people see in this guy
And so on and on from the first few pages.
I really don't understand why lots of the people here are fans of Pelicans and are even posting in this forum.
It's one thing to be so negative, because of Willie, but to be so dramatic right now, after every missed shot or that we're losing to Houston at half-time is nonsense.
It's obvious that only for a month JB have changed a lot, forming some identity, shaping the future roster (it's clear we are building around Fears and Queen) and the games are fun to watch again. And with more practices we are only going to get better. 20 wins, 30 wins, 40 wins... it's irrelevant for this season. The unprotected pick is irrelevant too, because we have our rookies, so .....just root for them.
And root for:
Herb, because he is most definitely not done (ask Curry and Durant). And he is actually shooting his normal 34% from 3;
Jose, who have finished more game in a month under JB than the whole Willie's tenure;
Trey - he seems perfect for Fears and Queen;
Zion, who still helps the development of the rookies by simply being on the floor and attracting attention (and we need to build some sort of a value)
Poole - same as for Zion. And we most definitely won this trade, as Bey is awesome
Karlo, McGowens, Missi, Peavy - all are developing as a nice pieces from the bench.

I agree that the hate on Herb is a little ridiculous. The reason we would trade him is because he is valued so screaming "trade him" while acting like he's a problem is a weird take. The hate on Herb is dumb and criticizing the CJ trade is even more dumb. BUT I do agree that Herb shouldn't be taking 6+ 3's and we definitely should still trade Z and Jose.
No one dislikes anyone from that list other than Zion. The return we would get from trading Z/ Jose/ Missi/ Hawk is probably worth more to our current roster than having those guys on the roster.

There is constant hate against Herb, Jose, Trey as well and the team in general.
I do agree that we have to trade Jose, simply because we won't be able to pay him, like Naji (who was also heavily hated here).
Zion could be traded now, if something decent is offered and should be traded/cut in the offseason (depending of his availability and play for the reminder).
Herb should not be traded right now unless we receive 2-3 first round picks. In the offseason you will get better offers for sure, because he will keep playing better (hopefully no more injuries).
Missi should not be traded yet.
Hawk is done with the NBA. If he can't play any minutes in this improved offense under JB, he won't anywhere.

I don't think its hate, some people are just really bad at criticism. And other people are really bad at understanding criticism and labeling it as hate.
Herb has been somewhat inconsistent and he does shoot too much at times and I agree we should trade him just as much as I think we should keep him.
The Trey hate is misguided because he was forced to be a #1 when the expectations were #3-4 while healthy. It has also died down since he's been consistent.
I don't think anyone has "hated" Jose more than me and not a single bit of it was hate.
Jose was always a holding place until we found a franchise PG. We will have 2 when Murray comes back and 3 if you include Poole. With all do respect, bye Jose.
The Herb hate/ criticism is the most valid argument you could have on here considering his current value, the state of our team, and knowing that he is A key piece but not necessarily a key building piece.

He has the team playing well and it’s pretty exciting right now despite the record.

I think all both Saints & Pelicans fans wanted this year was reason to believe we were trending in the right direction
Perhaps we can begin to believe both are starting to head that way

And it would have made way more sense to pursue trading Herb/Trey/Jose if we still had our our own pick (and only if you trade them for really young players/picks). You get back assets and help out with the tanking. If we get a great offer for one of them, sure, consider it. But there's no point in rushing these trades in the 25/26 season. That's especially the case for Dumars, as the higher the 26 draft pick is, the worse he looks. Give those guys time with Fears/Queen, see how they fit, then start considering trades. in the offseason if they don't work. Borrego looks to have everything trending in the right direction, and it seems that he's committed to developing Fears/Queen even as the vets get healthy. I hope that we get as many Fears/Herb/Trey/Queen minutes together as possible this season.

I think so. Both teams have some younger players stepping up and it looks promising.
