I mentioned in a thread yesterday that Rondo' s defensive rating is #420 in the league. If you have a chance to watch the games live, the eye test doesn't fool you. He constantly loses sight of his man when he is off ball, causing the defense to scramble and give up open 3's. He does not fight to stay in front of his man and would rather gamble for a reach around steal. Frankly, he is terrible on D and has been this way since he left Boston.

That has been one of the biggest knocks on him since leaving Boston. That he is lackadaisical on defense during the regular season.

I think you are correct in your assessment even though I think people are still in the honeymoon period and aren’t ready to see it. I’d still say his presence is still very much a net positive regardless of any stats, but I think it is an issue that our defense at the point of attack is so spastic and inconsistent. Especially when our anchor, Cousins, has a tendency to take plays off as well.
