At least one of those guys needs to be swapped out for a legit backup PG that can run the offense.

This is lunacy, and frankly the single biggest problem with our roster is a direct result of this thinking. We already have 3 ball handlers, Z, BI and CJ, and we have a legit backup PG that most other teams would kill for in Jose. He’s a disrupter who gets into the paint whenever he wants and hits 3’s at almost 40%. He is in line for a gigantic raise, and most teams would kill to have him as their backup PG. On top of that we drafted Dyson as a PG for the future. Now we need another PG? Drafting Dyson instead of a big is very likely to be our undoing in the playoffs, and created without question the biggest deficiency on our current roster.

I have a method to my madness.

When we're healthy this is fine. But when we've had injuries and asked CJ to run the offense, that has not looked good. Since he's been here, as an off ball player he's been fantastic, as an on ball player, despite decent stats, the offense doesn't flow well.

Some of that is probably on Willie and his rotations because if CJ is running point he probably doesn't have many people to pass it to, but I just don't consider CJ a good backup PG. Not to mention he's so good off ball, it makes sense to keep him there so he can go 9/12 from 3. Don't put the ball in his hands, run him off some screens.

You don't have to sell me on Jose. I think we need a 4th "PG" because as I mentioned, I don't count CJ as a viable backup PG for us. If just one of BI/Zion/Jose are available for the Spurs game we win that. If he doesn't get kicked out of the 2nd half of the Miami game and Zion had an extra ball handler to carry some of the load, the Pels win that game. So I do think we need another creator that can run the offense.

Dyson isn't a PG any more than Lonzo was a PG. He's more of a connector. And his primary value is being a switchable defender and backup to Herb. Herb had foul trouble last night, so Dyson comes in to continue giving you high level point of attack defense. Jalen Duren wouldn't have done that, not to mention Duren instead of Dyson means more Naji minutes. I'm not a Naji hater, but I know he has a point of diminishing return that pops up when you try to play him too regularly.

The fact that we're arguing over not having the right 7th/8th man says how good things have gotten.
