He’s shooting around 29% on open threes. 27% on catch and shoot threes.

For his career, he’s around 35%. This isn’t a good shooter’s percentage, but servicable for catch and shoot kickouts if thats the best shot you can get on some possessions. Can you pick if you want to do this small 8 game sample or career? You switch between the two to fit whatever point you try to make

Do you believe NAW is in a slump or that he has actually regressed to shooting 20%? If you believe he’s actually this bad, then I simply disagree. If not, then its illogical to talk about his future using the past 6 games

Would you want guys like Naz Reid, Lebron, Deandre Hunter, Devin Vassell, Danuel House, Brooke Lopez, or Anthony Edwards passing up open catch and shoot 3s?

No one bats a 1000 but I will gladly put my prognostications up against anyone when it comes to this team if you want to take it there.

I believe NAW is, for the first time in his career, showing up on scouting reports and consistently going against starter level defenders and so using his percentages against mostly back ups and unprepared defenses is attempting to bias the situation as best you can to defend him.

Nickeil so far is a downgrade from Bledsoe's play last season, just let that sink in. You would rather Bled from last year taking those threes than NAW.

And if you aren't willing to defend Bledsoe starting, or taking 8 threes a game, I have to conclude the only reason people are continuing to defend NAW doesn't have to do with his play, but is coming on emotional level.

I hope he rights the ship, because we really have no one else, but it's not like him reverting to 35% is good, thats still a bad shot and defenses would love to end a possession on a 35% probability.

Pretty crazy that this day and age in the NBA, the pelicans cannot seem to find people who can shoot the 3. Graham and NAW have been killing us

It's frustrating because teams like the Bucks, Nuggets, Grizzlies, and even the Pelicans under Demps seemed to just easily find guys that can come in and knock down threes on a budget.

But we have two stars that really need shooters around them and we are trotting out Temple, Kira, and NAW as guards.

The latter two I am 100% convinced are purely out of Griff's ego and stubbornness.

So other teams leaving him open more results in him shooting worse from 3? You think they calculated that out? He’s in a shooting slump, mental or physical idk, probably both. Maybe he’ll never get out of it. I still believe he’s at least a young, below average starter / average bench player that is performing extremely poor compared to what he can do. We just have different outlooks and belief in him. I think he’s realistically closer to what he has been the past 2 years plus more and in a slump currently, but you think this is his true self. Maybe you’ll be right maybe I’ll be right

Maybe if I were a miserable fan with no hope or optimism, I’d give up on him, but I choose to find at least some enjoyment in the team I watch all the time, so I’ll continue to hope he improves rather than what, wanting to play Kira or Sato or Naji more?

I see zero point in lying to myself about the reality of this team, or it's players, I get why people do it, but it's just not for me. I'm fine admitting my team's warts and accepting the frustration that comes with it.

Now I never said I don't believe he is in a slump or can't improve somewhat, but even if we got the efficiency of NAW for the last two seasons his play would still be a huge liability was my point.

You say this in every thread and have said sunshine pumping in this thread probably 5 times. There's no need to keep reminding everybody, we know. The team is 1-7, there's not much positivity around here and i'd be curious who in the hell you think is sunshine pumping.

You try to act like some genius because you say NAW, Jaxson, and Kira arent any good. Now 8 games in you're already dogging TM. You say he's not Duarte. I mean you're knocking him because he's not doing as good as a guy that was drafted 4 spot before him. Im not a fan of this FO, but you're fine shitting on guys but give no credit for the hits.

Even people that are really frustrated with this team, which is almost everybody, is tired of you're broken record. Its like you have 3 posts pulled up in a word document so you can just copy and paste them for every reply.

Where am I dogging Trey Murphy? I have repeatedly said I think he is one of the best picks we have made under Griff and that he is trending to be a NBA level rotation player. I just said I'm not ready to crown him until he actually demonstrates it, and that no, he is not Chris Duarte(who we supposedly liked more and would have taken, so credit to the FO for seeing it). That's not dogging, it's just refusing to get caught up in overhyping players.

This was literally what I said before the draft:

quote:

I mean honestly at this point, if I’m actually trying to maximize what would be the best roster this team could realistically field over the next two years to convince Zion we are committed to winning, and actually demonstrate near contender status, you make Gayle commit to her words on being a tax team if necessary, go get Lowry, match for Lonzo, draft someone like Duarte or Murphy, then run out:

Lowry/Kira
Lonzo/NAW
BI/Duarte or Murphy
Zion/James Johnson or something
JV/Hayes

I've been a Murphy fan from before draft night. That doesn't mean I'm crowning the kid or won't admit when someone else is outperforming them.

He's a nice side story, but the team is 1-7, you are picking a really dumb time to try and shame people for being pissed off and discussing where things went wrong.

Please explain. Thus far (and it is early), NAW and Graham have been a huge downgrade from Bledsoe and Ball.
