If so, sign me up.
Trade West and we're looking okay for the future.
Roughly:
Oakfor (3yrs $40 million)
Ariza (3yrs $20 million)
Odom (2yrs $17 million)
Scola (4 yrs $40 million)
Martin (2yrs $25 million)

If Montiejunas isn't included, I hope we're contracted.

My guess is that this is a deal that is premised on a philosophy that they can't wait to build for the future. Need to get an owner, and keep 10.000 season ticket holders happy and willing to renew. Have a season where you are non-competitive while waiting for young players to mature and draft picks to pan out does not fit in with this philosophy. I'm not necessarily agreeing with it, just my spin.
What would be more fun to watch: A team with young, exciting talent that wont win this year. Or a team with aging players who are unhappy about being here who will suck equally as bad?

Trade West for a young point guard and we faired well in all of this.

I'm getting all warm and fuzzy again. For a second there I thought about occupying Dell Demps

You know, I could warm up to getting those 3 plus shipping Ok and getting a decent 2. It would be a completely different team but overall possible playoffs with good coaching from Monty.

yeah this at least will allow us to make some more moves.

Can we get Dragic and Morris from Houston?

We have to be sending someone else off or not planning on keeping Odom. Paul is only $16m and we're taking in $26mm. Maybe we can let someone take Okafor and go after a FA center.

You assume the young talent would actually be good and the vets would be unhappy. Terrible assumptions.

Dragic is in the deal

I don't understand what everyone is flipping out about. The Hornets are getting 80 cents on the dollar, which is better than we would get at the end of the season and probably better than they would get half way through the season.
Paul wouldn't assure Golden State that he would sign long-term so Curry was off the table. Clippers weren't giving up Gordon.
Obviously, no one wants to see Paul leave but he was already gone. Getting Scola, Martin, and Odom is about as good as you could expect. If they can swing Houston's #1 or the Knicks' #1 that Houston has, then that's a pretty solid deal.
Gives you a lot of options. Now, you don't have to blow money resigning West. Potentially amnesty Ariza or Okafor and you've started the rebuilding with some decent players.

I doubt we keep Odom. And we need to make LA take Okafor with them.

I can understand the move. We get a return of solid players and at least it keeps us competitive enough where people will come see the games. No new ownership group would want to buy a team empty of assets and extremely young talent which would take 3 years to rebuild.
It's not a bad deal.
