I hope (but have no allusions) that Paul will give Demps a year to do his thing. His thing is building through the draft, not making flashy FA/deadline moves. We won't get to see his best skillset on display till literally a year from now.

I agree. Bigger deals tend to happen closer to the deadline for a reason, you just have to let things develop. This Hoopsworld article talks about 2 possibilities worth waiting a few months into the season on. LINK
The wheel's on Denver's ride might be about to fall off. Carmelo still hasn't signed his extension and they said they'll trade him if he doesn't. Denver's top front office guys have contracts that expire September 1st, George Karl has only one year left and the roster is old, expensive, and showed their true colors without Karl in the playoffs. I think the Hornets would need to get another team or 2 involved in a trade, but if the Hornets come out hot and Denver falls flat Carmelo to the Hornets isn't crazy. It's still a long shot though.
On the Philly side if Collins building the team around Iguodala doesn't work, and it hasn't for several years, he would probably be available.

I agree with waiting for the deadline especially if the Knicks are struggling for example. Their first round pick becomes more valuable if the playoffs are a fore gone conclusion. We dont want a first round pick from someone who instantly becomes a contender with Paul.
1. Hornets should be compensated with young talent.
2. Hornets must move Oka and Paul together
3. Any draft pick we pick up must be top 10
