Trey has higher offensive peak potential, but value also takes cost into consideration.

If I asked you trey at 30mil or herb at his, who has more value.

Id argue it's still herb, even though the 20ppg potential for trey is there.

It's really depends on the team and where they are currently in their roster construction. A team with a true #1 and # 2 option who is ready to compete for a championship will probably have Herb high on their wishlist whereas a younger team who doen't quite have all the pieces to contend yet will probably value the potential of Trey more.

There's a logjam with BI at the position Trey plays, but Herb doesn't have a BI type taking his minutes. I wouldn't say Herb out produced Trey at all based on production in minutes played.

That’s a two way street, means he’s also playing against lesser opposition while Herb is usually playing against a teams best player on offense because he’s you know starting…

It's Trey.

Trey isn't terribly far from that. You can argue he's just a slight uptick in growth and getting 34-36mpg from hitting that mark.

That'll always be more valuable than a Herb Jones. Always.

Put it this way, I keep saying Trey ha more potential. Based on today's cap figures, Herb is never going to be worth $30mil, there's just no logical world where that happens. There is a world where Trey can get there. That potential is why Trey has more value.

Did you also forget the part where anyone, other than you maybe, would agree that Trey very clearly has more room for growth and Herb is closer to his peak than Trey? Make sure you throw that obvious statement into your logic trail and rerun the calculation, let me know what it spits out.

Not what I said at all, but I’ll correct you. Trey has a higher value right now than Herb, mostly based off his potential and shooting. We won’t see how high it is until BI is gone. You seem to think their value is worlds apart, I along with others including Mac think it’s closer. If Trey signs a big extension and doesn’t take a leap and Herb simply plays at the level he has been I think his trade value may exceed his based on Herbs very team friendly deal.

You also said Treys has a better offensive game and doesn’t rely on others to score like Lauri but then contracted yourself by saying Lauri would be worth more in a trade. It’s why I said that makes perfect sense….

Trey in his career as a starter, 89 games:

FG% - 48%
3pt% - 41%

Trey in his career off the bench, 109 games:

Fg% - 42%
3pt% - 37%

You corrected me by saying exactly what I've been saying for about 6 or 7 posts.

The debate was who has more value now. This is irrelevant to the discussion we're having.

Also not relevant to this discussion.

You missed my post, so I'll say it a 2nd time . Yes, Lauri has more value because he produces more. I don't get why you left that part out, is production not important to you? That's odd to ignore that, if you value production you now see it certainly DOES make perfect sense, as I've said all along.

The debate was that Treys value was much larger than Herbs. I agree with Mac and believe you are wrong. It’s closer than you think. That’s the debate. Then you getting pissy saying Mac isn’t the end all be all because you disagree with him. I don’t agree with Mac on many issues, but I agree with him here and that Wemby has a 100 trade value rating.

Lauri’s worth more because he’s flat out a better player. I wonder what his stats woukd look like if he was paired with Zion. He doesn’t have anyone close to that on the Jazz.

We saw what happened when defensive intensity rose in the playoffs and no Zion. Trey turned into a ghost.
