Does anyone know the details of his contract? It looks like we may have a team option for next year but that’s not entirely clear.
He’s proven enough that whoever takes over as GM should look into trying to extend him this summer. Give him a 3 year deal similar to what he would get if he was a late 1st rounder. I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t sign it and bet on himself to be a FA after next year but who knows he may be interested in getting more guaranteed money now.

As long as we don’t give him a Solomon Hill contract

The 20th pick in 2018 got a 4year $11M
30th pick got 4 year $9M
If hoopshype is correct, we have him for $1.4M next year.
I’d offer him a 3 year $7-8M and sell it like we are paying him like a 1st rounder. We’d have him under control longer to develop him and he gets more security. Not sure he would go for it.
Other similar situation knicks gave Allonzo Trier (initially a two-way player this year) a two year $7M. (2nd year is a team option)

They have a team option next year and then the following year will have RFA matching rights and Early Bird Rights which let's them go over the cap up to the MLE to pay him. Unless he really blows up, which seems unlikely if we trade for all of Boston's wing players, that should be all they need to keep him long term.

If he is a RFA and early bird rights after next year, then no reason to do anything this summer. Thanks I wasn’t sure how FA worked for guys who start out as UDFAs.

bottom line is they have him as long as they want him until somebody wants him more

It will be interesting to see how he develops. He works his arse off, and effort can do wonders.
