Yeah, that's a head scratcher. You would think that as an 8th pick in his 4th year that he would have already earned himself regular significant minutes in the rotation (even if the team was fully healthy). But compare the impact that Herb, Trey, Jose, Naji and DD have had in their short NBA careers as opposed to Jax.
I think the team has to fish or cut bait this year with him. I hope he's successful with the Pels this year, but if that doesn't happen, it's time to hand off his development to another team. Ironically, a change of scenery can many times help a player move to the next level.

If Val ever gets dinged up which is an almost certainty over the course of the season the way he bangs under the basket, you will be glad to have Willy. If JV were to ever be out for some reason I bet they start Willy over Nance because they like Nance in his bench role as the energy small ball big man that can run the court and hit the outside shot too. Starting Nance would actually probably hinder how he plays. I do understand Willy wants to play though and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he decided to go overseas to play pretty soon where he would make more money too, possibly after this season when his contract is up. He would have fulfilled his desire to play at the highest level in the NBA and then he could go secure his financial future in the back half of his career making more money overseas while also being a starter and focal point of a team. We will have EJ Liddell back next year so he could take Jaxon’s spot as a 4/5 guy and you could find a backup true C for the minimum in free agency or the draft.
