Apparently he didn't know he had a loaded gun at an airport.
In my humble opinion (and, trust me, it's hard to be humble when you have the life experience, intelligence, insight and huge set of gonads that I have . . . but I digress), people are a little quick to judge when they don't know all of the facts. This incident will turn out to be a minor deal in the end.

He is a good ole country boy from Pontchatoula that has done pretty well for himself. I am actually surprised they even have a gun in their house. This was an honest mistake. That is all. You damn better believe I am going to check all of the pockets of my luggage before I take my next trip.
Judging by some of these comments, the Hornets clearly have staff that post on TD

Which is damn stupid. That's the point. Nobody is trying to lynch the guy for it, but it was a really stupid mistake. More than anything, he sounds like a really poor example of a gun owner.

Absolutely! His pet cat probably crawled into the bag to take a nap and took a loaded handgun to protect itself from loud noises.
