I mean don't get me wrong, I love Marcus. Just got my #5 jersey shirt and everything. But he's not playing well at all, yet people act like Monty is a bad guy for not playing him and when he does get in the game you act like your savior has risen.

The most logical explanation comes from the '60s phrase "to drop a dime," "to give information, especially to the police." Most pay phones used to cost a dime; an informant would "drop a dime" to call police and thus "assist" in an arrest.
