quote:

Griffin on #Pelicans building a team but already having pieces in place: "We basically get to do a reboot, with a player like Jrue Holiday already in the fold. Typically when you're rebuilding, you have to start all over again, but that's absolutely not what's happening here."

quote:

David Griffin on overarching principle of #Pelicans player acquisition while building a team the right way: "The caliber of human beings we bring in will be more important than their particular skill set."

quote:

Griffin says Jrue Holiday will be recruiting and leading the young guys - and he’s doing so in such a way Griff never imagined. Says Jrue is all in with these efforts

Also
quote:

Alvin Gentry said he’ll be “disappointed” if the Pelicans don’t lead the league in pace next season. So, take that into account when drawing up your free agency scenarios.

"The caliber of human beings we bring in will be more important than their particular skill set."

This is key. Why get a loser like Kuzma who obviously is all about trivial superficial glam?

Stay away from the Boogie Cousins', JR Smith's of the league. Get intelligent, non-selfish, low key guys that just want to ball and win.

Taking the Saints approach.
Cant blame them. You dont see the Spurs drafting players like Marquese Chriss.

I wish we could go back in time and get Quincy Pondexter the year he was healthy with us. He would be the perfect vet (with Jrue) to help lead by example on this team.
