In a year where we could easily be drafting top 5.
This comment right here is why its impossible to discuss things with some people. Last year we finished 4th and shut down our players for 10+ games. We were barely top 5 last year with a record injury season and a lot less depth. We still ended up drafting 7th.... The chances are probably higher for us to be outside the top 10 than to be in the top 5 this year even with injuries.

1. We had bad luck in the lottery. It happens. Good luck also happens. Point is no one had better odds to draft number one than us. The ping pong balls just didnt bounce our way.
2. We absolutely had better depth last year than we do this year. That's just an objective fact.
3. We're starting the year with a healthy Zion, but that means nothing considering his history. History tells us he's likely to play less than half the season. And without him, we are without a doubt a bottom three roster.
Sure we can hope for the best, but we're likely gonna have great lottery odds again and nothing to show if the ping pong balls bounce our way this time. That's a shite deal, considering the return was Queen.
You're banking on the most unlucky franchise suddenly having good luck. I hope for all our sakes, that you're 100% right and I'm dead wrong. I just know that's not how things work for this franchise.

Dumars has been on record this summer stating that he is/was targeting guys that can create their own offense and get to the free throw line for easy points. Players with that type of gravity make the game easy for everyone else on the court. Zion, Fears and Queen are all exceptional at that. Trey was improving on that last year. Poole can do that, healthy DJM can do that, Jose can do it on hot spurts.
