It's 100% true, the Spurs thought he was messing with them and the Hawks called back twice to make sure that's what the Pelicans actually wanted to do. Literally every GM in the NBA was questioning the deal. If they pick was top-3 protected it still would have been made.

Without this trade to get a 2nd 1st in the last draft we don’t have Queen. The pacers pick was also top 4 protected (yes you can put protections)
That trade made more sense than our unprotected pick

to many degrees yes.
we don't even know what pick we gave up.
Certainly hasn't stopped the drama all the while ya'll turn around in the next sentence and mock dumars' ability to draft a top 2 selection.

Nobody is arguing that Queen will be a great player. It's the ignorance of the front office that will hinder this team going forward. Pelicans fans should have zero trust in Dumars putting this team together after that moronic trade.

The Pelicans could have about a 30% chance at the 1st overall pick right now. But Dumars is going to Dumars.
