Defense is a mentality. This mavs team had some of the worse Defense in the league the last 3 seasons with pretty much the same roster. Jason Kidd got them dudes to buy in on the defensive end.

Gotta hand it to Kidd(and eat my crow), he has matured quickly as a coach and is in my top 3 COTY with Green and Udoka.

Do you think we don't? Our ORTG post CJ trade would have been the best in NBA history over a full season (Brooklyn in 2020-2021 had an ORTG of 116.3, the highest mark ever, and we were in the 118's), and we currently stand as the best playoff offense with an ORTG of 113.8 per 100.

and we're adding the best iso player in NBA history, albeit small sample size, but we know Zion is special offensively.

We have more than enough offense.

I think we gave the game plan for beating them given that Dallas was doing thinks like using Frank in a manner similar to Grand Theft Alvarado to screw with CP3.

Playing Frank had nothing to do with following Pels game plan. Only reason they went to Frank was because of how bad Josh Green is. Frank is not a rotation NBA player. Dude is trash.

Problem is they only had one wing defender. Dorian had to do everything and defend everyone with no help. Adding Bullock was huge. Now they have two guys, and Bullock is also good against smaller guards.

Sean Sweeney is the guy who got them to buy in on defense. Sweeney played a huge part in developing Giannis. The thing people don’t understand is Kidd is really just the name and face out front, surrounded by an incredible coaching staff.

One of the things people have talked about is how involved the assistants are, which is something Kidd wouldn’t have liked in his other head coaching gigs. I don’t think Kidd does much of anything.

To put it more plainly, Kidd is basically Ed Orgeron.
