With the new addition of CJ McCollum we will see if the Pels plan to use him as a 1 or a 2. In my opinion, if we could get a true point guard who can defend, CJ would be better served at Shooting Guard.

Currently Dejounte Murray is averaging 19.5 PPG, 8.4 RPG, and 9.2 APG. He is also 6’4 (6’10 wingspan) and considered to be a strong defender. He is having a career year and is in the running for the Most Improved Player Award this season. If available, I would expect his asking price to be pretty high, but he appears to be the type of player that could put us over the top. If Zion returns, we will have plenty of scoring with BI, CJ, and Zion, therefore Murray would not need to be heavily relied on as a scorer if he can defend and facilitate. The only concern for Murray would be his 3PT% of 31.5%. In 2019-2020 he did shoot 36% from 3 so the potential is there to be a respectable shooter for spacing.

A potential lineup of Murray / CJ / BI / Zion / JV would be very strong. You could also go small and play a lineup of Murray / CJ / Herb / BI / Zion. You could play with a lot of lineup options with the addition of a guy like Murray now that CJ is here.

Are there any packages with Graham that could land Murray?

They just traded Derrick White. They aren't trading Murray.

People keep trying to look for ways to push Herb out of the starting lineup. I don't get it.

If he can solidify his 3 point shot he's a perfect 5th starter. Defends the opponents best player, doesn't need the ball but can still score 10-15 a night being a dump off target on cuts and corner 3s.

Not trying to push Herb out of the lineup. New Orleans hasn’t had a true PG since Chris Paul. The idea of having one where CJ could play his more natural position of SG would make this team very deep. Depending on the opponent Herb becomes a very valuable player. He could still be just as valuable in a 6th man role if needed

You don’t need a traditional point guard to win when you have players like Zion and BI to carry playmaking and shot creation.

Exactly...I'm not sure why folks keep thinkin' we need a 6' PG who is a defensive liability 99% of the time, given the future makeup of the Pels' lineup. One of the main strengths of our lineup, will be the fact we can substitute another 6'5" or taller, solid defensive player that can hit a C&S 3. Why waste this advantage, by cramming an unneeded small PG into the lineup. We need every edge we can get...on both ends of the court.
