So how does this buy out shite actually work? Brewer is now a free agent & can go to the highest bidder? Couldn't Cuban just pay out the arse to get him or does every team have to sign him at same price?

Its basically they come in for interview of the team and player, and offer a contract and they choose the highest bidder/best fit for them. yeah, like free agency

If a team us over the cap they will only be able to offer at most the minimum (prorated). All the teams in the running for Brewer are over the cap. So money is probably not the issue.

I think we would be a great spot for Brewer as we are a defensive minded team and could offer him possibly the most minutes out of the teams he is considering.

This.

He's always compared to Ariza and is very defensive-minded, so coming to play for Monty as Ariza's backup would make a lot of sense.

yeah I feel the same, he'd be a upgrade at the backup 3. The team would be unstoppable on the D

Wait, can he play the 2?

I would think he would backup Ariza, but I could see them putting both on the floor at the same time in certain situations.

Yeah, a defensive lineup like that would be beyond nasty:
CP
Brewer
Ariza
West
Okafor

Nasty, especially against a team like the thunder, the mavs, the spurs, and lakers.

Do any of the other contenders for Brewer have the potential playing time available that we have?

We are a solid playoff team so I would think high minutes would make us the most appealing, but I am sure I am a little biased.

The Mavs, won't have much minutes to give. Maybe the Spurs, but I'm not certain. The Celtics, I don't think there's much time available, but with Marquis Daniels out, there may be some (but can you see Brewer on the celts??), Not a lot of minutes with the Bulls either, so I think we're the best bet

He's talking about west being a bad defender, but no one remembers talking about west being the main speaker they heard in the beginning of the season yelling out defensive sets and where to go, and making crucial plays in the beginning of the season but who cares

This year, he has been pretty bad. Last year, he shot the ball very well.

Getting him would be awesome. He's quick enough to guard pg's and can give Ariza a break from guarding the best wing. It would take a ton of pressure off of Paul not having to guard players like Westbrook for 40 minutes.

Tom Thibodeau can call out a defense, too. Doesn't mean he can play defense.

Hornets still have full MLE and the Bulls have most of their's. Not sure what the league would allow us to spend, but we technically can offer more than any of the other mentioned teams.
