We're now seriously financially committed to the proven player. The raw, "injured" guy wouldn't eat up cap. He'd also be younger.
He's not just "injured," he had a serious injury. I get the cap argument, but isn't the perk of having cap space to use it on a proven player who will instantly add production to the team? Rather a 23 year old eat cap space than a 30 year old vet.

To be medicore. If we get a lwgit FA I'm for it. But doubt it will happen. Thunder

Who do we finish in front of? Lakers maybe. That's it. T wolves will be better. I dunk. I see 10th in west
We aren't making the playoffs.

Well it was wrong both times

Not as good as Jrue
By what measure?
Lillard shoots it better, turns it over less. He's a far better offensive player, though not as good defensively.
It's a give and take between the two, but they are comparable enough overall.

And no one wants to respond to it because we wont make the playoffs next year

Sure, use the cap space to add a real difference maker... a max type.
He tore his ACL, which is a pretty light injury these days. He's been checked out several times over and all said he's fine.

We won't? You should change your name to Basketball Nostradamus.

No we won't. And if you'd like to make a bet on it I'm all for it

Damn, now we have fans betting against their home team because we gave up Nerlens fricking Noel. Didn't know the guy was Hakeem Olajuwon.

Why did the Suns pass? Why did everyone pass on this "light" injury? You have to admit. That's very worrisome...

Right. I think it's just watching too much lsu basketball

Jrue would've been #1 this year based on his NBA production and easily top 3 next year. But frick it, we want the 3rd center taken in the draft and a pick outside of the top 5 next year instead of him.

Your points are really stupid.
Posted on 6/27/13 at 10:03 pm to OBUDan
What's stupid about it? Why do you so badly want Nerlens Noel, the center picked AFTER Cody Zeller and Alex Len, as well as a completely unknown pick outside of the top 5 next year, over a proven NBA PG who is only 23, has a nice contract for his production, and just played in his first All Star game?
Posted on 6/27/13 at 10:05 pm to JayJay2
We can't hang on to cap space forever and just draft and say "okay. At least we have cap space". How many players proven and on Jrue's level really want to come here because we have some space?

Ummm. I think you got that backwards. Jrue is a far far better defender, though not quite as good of a scorer. But is not a big difference. Jrue had a better FG% the same 3 pt % but avg 1.3 pts less. Oh and Holiday had more assist. He did have more turnovers, but its not like Lillard didn't turn the ball over at a decent rate as well.

I think his skill set is polarizing. In all likelihood he will never be worth a damn on offense other than putbacks/lobs/etc.
So you are drafting a potentially one-dimensional player. I don't think Noel will be a superstar, but he does have that upside. I just think his floor is pretty high, he's going to be a quality rim protector and likely elite defensive presence.
Look how Miami struggled when Duncan protected the rim. Now imagine having two guys with that defensive potential (though one who lacks on O).
And having them for low cost so you can keep adding other pieces with your cap space.
But not just Noel, I think Burke will be a more efficient player than Jrue, though he won't have the defensive potential.
I just think we tied ourselves up a bit to get marginally better.
