But by your debate. Aldridge wouldn't be slightly overpaid. He would be severely overpaid... And Ryno would be a great contract if Aldridge is only "slightly" overpaid, no?
It might not be the best comparison. But it is a good comparison money wise. And mostly look at the True Rebounding Percentage for people who say he is terrible in that area. Same goes for DRtg. Just saying people who call him terrible in those areas just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
I see some people calling Ryno overrated or overpaid. He has an elite skill that every team would love. Shooting threes. Is he an elite defender or rebounder? No. But he is an average defender and a decent rebounder. Here is a comparison.

LaMarcus Aldridge has a PER of 19.7, TS%=.537, eFG%=.494, TRB%=13.2, DRtg=107, and a +4.00 efficiency.

Ryno shoots 38% from 3P, PER of 18.3, TPS%=.566, eFG%=.529, TRB%=13.4, DRtg=107, and +15 efficiency.

Aldridge makes around 14+mil and Ryno makes 8mil.

Starting 5 as of now: Jrue, EG, Ryno, AD, Smiht

Ryno can't play SF. Everyone knows that. In plus, who cares about the Starting V anyway. It's all about who is on the court in crunch time which will most likely be
Jrue, EJ, 'Reke, Ryno, AD
quote:

Holliday/Roberts/Jackson Gordon/Evans/Rivers Copeland(Aminu)/Evans/Miller Davis/Anderson Dalembert/Smith/Withey

You also know that 'Reke will probably get PG minutes too? One of the great things having a 6th man who can play 3 positions effectively. He might get as many, if not more, minutes that any starter...

So Holiday is all of a suddenly a top 5 PG now that he is with the Pelicans? I have heard it all!

And people are acting like Noel is Hakeem the Dream without having played a minute and sitting on a torn ACL!

No one else is worried that 5 teams including the Suns passed on what most people said would be the best player in the draft? Obviously they weren't convinced on his knee or maybe his ability... You guys are valuing draft picks too much. Everyone touts OKC. How many times has this been successful in the league?

Look at the stagnant teams in the lottery every year. Jrue is a hard nosed defender. A fringe star top tier PG with very nice size. I get people are scared of giving the first round next year but this isn't the NFL. The rate of a player actually being solid after the top 5 is very low. And we are top 5 protected.

We would have had to pay Jrue or anyone else 14mil a year to come here and play. First year in a 4 year 44 mil contract for a fringe star and top tier PG is a steal for this team.
quote:

January 15th he had 29 pts 11 assists 4 steals 5 rebounds 4 of 5 3 pters

I was at that game. He annihilated us...
We can't hang on to cap space forever and just draft and say "okay. At least we have cap space". How many players proven and on Jrue's level really want to come here because we have some space?
quote:

He tore his ACL, which is a pretty light injury these days. He's been checked out several times over and all said he's fine.

Why did the Suns pass? Why did everyone pass on this "light" injury? You have to admit. That's very worrisome...
quote:

Yeah that's what I'm saying. There's no question Jrue makes us better right now. But I don't think it benefits us for the next 5-10 years, whereas having a guy this year AND a higher pick next year really could have.

So you would rather stay stagnant and hope draft picks work out. Everyone can't get as lucky as the Thunder. Rarely teams are able to build championship teams through draft picks. And 7 years down the road when we are barely winning and AD wants to go to a contender?

Have to make a statement you are ready to compete and compete soon...
quote:

If you would read the whole damn thread. I said my beef is with Demps sending a number 1 to Philly. Not Getting Holiday.

And that's what I stated in my comment. The 2014 hasn't played. We don't know where we would pick and we don't know how good that player will be. Not to mention VERY few players drafted even touch Jrue's status in the league...
quote:

you're missing my whole point. oh, why the frick do I bother.

Just fail to understand how getting a proven commodity in Jrue over 2 unknowns would be hated. We don't know how Noel is and 2014 pick has even played yet and maybe hasn't played a college minute yet. We get a top tier PG for 2 unknowns. Does anyone realize the fail rate of draft picks? Especially out of the top 5?
quote:

Holiday will make them better, but a lot of it depends on AD's jump to the next level. He needs to get strong, add that weight and carry them to wins in close games they lost last season. They can go to the playoffs in a sevnth or eight seed.

Weren't we counting on AD to do that anyway?
quote:

We don't get back 11. And we give up a top 3 protected 1st. Terrible. We will end up picking 6th with a legit impact player there

What if Nerlens ends up not being that good or his knee is bad and next year out pick doesn't pan out. We just got a 23 year old ALLSTAR for two unknowns. He is only 2-3 years older than players people wanted in this draft. Great trade.

I love this trade. Shows Dell wants to win now. Jrue just got an extension and is a top tier guard in the league and allstar calibre. We don't know where we will pick next year or if that player will be good. Picks aren't THAT valuable. We got an allstar for two unknown commodities! Way to go Dell!
quote:

Personally I would prefer Burke over Oladipo.

Agree to disagree. There are about 7-8 guys if take over Burke. But that is personal opinion.
quote:

So if Oladipo Falls to us at 6 and we draft him....what do we do? With Gordon specifically. Trade him for a 3?

It would be hard to trade him for anything. I would be on board with just signing Iggy and working from there I'm not sure we can expect any big moves. And if I were to ship Gordon, I would wait until the deadline. His value is low enough. Maybe it can increase and if we aren't doing well, then we can ship for a piece or two. But, honestly, I think trading Gordon right away isn't plausible. In plus, we need scoring if we draft Oladipo or even McLemore.
quote:

There are some quotes that their FO loved Oladipo's workouts and thought he was "explosive".

Wouldn't doubt it. I also heard that the Suns GM won't pass on McLemore at 5. It's all over the place. Lol. All I'm hoping for is Burke to go 2nd and shake things up.
Suns board as in fans? Or GM? Because Pelicans fans love and want Burke. Doesn't mean Dell absolutely loves him and wants him.
