Can Bey be a long-term starter on a contender?

He was thought to be a solid role player when we brought him in but he's definitely been better than that. His outside shooting hasn't even been that good lately, but he's still been a great addition and I'm not worried about his shot - it will come back.

The question is, is he good enough to be a starter long-term? He seems to have made a leap this year and is playing great on both sides of the ball and brings toughness and physicality too.

Looking ahead you have three locked in starters:

Fears
Trey
Queen

Could Bey be your small PF moving forward if we deal Zion?

Looking at the roster, the biggest needs remain a shot blocking stretch big. I love Karlo but we need more.

And more shooting in general.

Hopefully Murray comes back and isn't terrible. IMO, you trade Poole and Jose if Murray looks good.

(1) of DJ/ Herb/ Poole will probably have to go, especially if we end up keeping Z.

I think Poole would be the odd man out but you'd have to replace him with a shooter that has a pulse off the bench. DJ is the Poole/ Herb hybrid that can bring high level offense and defense.

Is it more advantageous to pair DJ with Herb's defense or Poole's offense? And is it more advantageous to pair Fears with Herb or Poole off the bench?

We could keep all (3) and play Bey/ Herb at SF but you'd have to trade Z for a big.

I think Murray will be a shell of himself.

Achilles injuries are the worst for athletic players.

KD is a freak and his length negates a lot of the decline associated with age and Achilles injury.

I am not confident Murray will be anything more than a late career Derick Rose type bench player.
