Birdwrites Podcast with Jamelle McMillian - Boogie Turnovers

Crewz said to talk to the coaches about what they tell Boogie in practice vs what he does in games. While most of us may not get to chat with coaches, Jamelle McMillian is a regular guest on the Birdwrites podcast and always provdies excellent insight. He went into a somewhat PC discussion of the issues with Boogie and how they are trying to get him to change. He seems to think they are making some progress in terms of getting him to understand not relying as much on iso.
Starting at 16:50, McMillian is asked about Boogie walking the line between initiating and doing too much (turnovers). He says Demarcus puts it on himself with the iso stuff. He says Boogie has been an ISO guy his whole career because of his ball skills. However Boogie's isolation does not work/help in Finch's offense particularly with respect to longer/active teams who pack the paint.
He highlights the difference between Boogie and AD. Boogie will drive against those teams packing the paint with nowhere to go while AD is cutting or if screening, then he is rolling off the screen. They are trying to get him to dive more in PNR situations like AD, but Boogie does not like to do that.
He thinks our game gets inconsistent in the second halves when our players get tired and the lineups shift more quickly. He said guys get stagnant and guys start to demand touches. He also gets into a discussion of the unforced turnovers with Rondo/Jrue/Demarcus and offensive rebounding (goal is to get a second chance opportunity on 25% of missed shots).
It is a great listen:

If we cut out the stupid turnovers, we’re probably 18-12 right now. We’re going to have turnovers - I get it. We run a fast pace, rely heavily on a high assist rate, so turnovers will come. I’m talking about the STUPID turnovers. The ones where you’re screaming, “WTF WAS THAT?!?!?”WHAT WERE YOU THINKING.?!?!?”
This lineup is pretty damn good. Good enough to battle for the 3-4 seed. And that’s WITH the wasted money on Asik’s contract, Ajinca’s, etc. All that dead money and we still have a damn good lineup with guys hitting 3’s all over the place now. Turnovers, especially Boogie’s, are killing us.
I think at some point we get our shite together and make a little run though and get into the 5-6 seed.

He talks about in general higher turnovers being part and parcel with the high level ball movement, but the unforced turnovers and particularly the live ball ones are what they are trying to cut down on. They really want to decrease live ball tunrovers and increase offensive rebounding in general with the thinking that will help with the transition D to an extent.

I wanted to really stress my point.
Harbinger of a 4-game winning streak by the Pels?

I listened to it yesterday, good listen.
I didn't really like when he went out of his way in the beginning to say "The only people who get to have bad days are Demps and Gentry." I get what he was going for, but it just sounds like shite when you say it out loud.
It was distracting because you could tell after every word, Jamelle was deciding whether or not he should stop or keep going. He sounds like they are really still figuring everything out, which is disturbing to me at this point.
I get a much more positive vibe of the atmosphere of the team through the interview than I would expect; but who knows.
