Pretty simple. Same song but different dance.
Bottom line is that we still have the same problems from the last year. Monty is just not a good coach; EG is a waste of air space; Holiday is not all that; we still have no SF and Evans is out of position.
Add that combo up and you do not have a contender let alone a playoff team.

I agree with everything you said but this. Holiday is a great defender.

Holliday is a pretty good player.

I want to give them at least 10-15 games to mesh and see what we have. Hell, the Spurs and Cavs are both 1-1 and the Thunder is 1-3. I know they have injuries, but their expectations were way higher than ours.

I'd only run the annexation of Puerto Rico and the throw the shite up to AD

We also shouldn't overreact to losing to teams we should lose to. The Mavs are just better than we are and while I think we're more evenly matched with the Grizz, it was a division game on the road. We may even lose tonight since it's the 2nd night of a back to back. Tyreke looked tired when he blew that layup, although AD should be pretty fresh.

My biggest concern is the street ball identity on offense. If this team doesn't get defensive stops and create transition buckets, they haven't been very good.

The Grizz have won a ridiculous 16 home games in a row.

They have arguably the best home court advantage in the NBA - last night's loss was to be expected.

That sounds like a lot of teams in the SW division. At some point, you have to steal some, especially in your own division. Already 2.5 gms behind in the SW divsion. .

That pic and role with AD will come around. Not too worried about the set offense. Coaching still my main concern. Hard Hedges on D. Sat AD to long. Didn't get the ball in AD's hands (when it was clear he was starting to get hot). Burying the second best 3 pt shooter on this team after one bad game.

Just not acceptable. I know some people want to protect Monty and that all the missed shots are not his fault. But call a spade a spade. He was a shitty coach last night and got out coached again.

I expected the loss, but we looked bad at times. I'd like to see some improvement and maybe some different rotations. And where is Russ? How bad is he to have not gotten in the game last night?

I would think we'd have a chance at stealing the next one from the Grizzlies. Don't get me wrong, the loss was disappointing, just not unexpected. We had just about everything possible go wrong, from AD's foul trouble to nobody making open jump shots. That hopefully won't happen again next time in Memphis. I also think we have a good shot against another team in the SW that shall remain nameless lest we attract the trolls.

When we did the preseason record after the 1st 20 games thread, I think a lot of people overestimated how good we were, or perhaps underestimated teams like Dallas. It seemed pretty likely that we'd start slow and end up around .500 after 20 games.

Monty called a timeout in the middle of a possession during a preseason game because he was running something wrong. Russ has talent, but he also has a lot to learn. I'd expect him to be like Withey was his rookie year, not getting much time until much later in the year.

He got himself off balance when he fricked up his dribble. Hopefully Gordon can build off of his game last night.

Memphis is a very physical team and probably a Top 5 defensive team. We needed a better shooting night to compete and it just didn't happen.

I agree players like Russ could've challenged their defense a bit more using penetrating drives (instead of just passing around the perimeter).
