As far as big trade deals, I just don't see how most teams can take on...

---huge$$/long term player deals, until the new CBA agreement is announced which will very likely include new luxury tax specifications for the coming years.

Current opt out deadline date is Feb 8th if both sides have agreed on a new CBA agreement by then. Funny thing...trade deadline is Feb 9th. Probably just a coincidence.

Be great if they get a new deal done in the next few days...and then, hopefully, that frees up teams to go ahead and make some serious trades. Then again, I might have all this stuff wrong...so somebody feel free to correct me, if I'm wrong.

my guess is the president of the players association has a good idea of how this may all shake out and he has a direct line to our front office that he doesn’t have to give to any other front office.

if it makes sense to add a lot more salary based on his prediction, expect us to jump on it before other teams start getting in the market
