And here we are again. Maybe you can yell loudly with your response and it will make you feel better again. Ingram is not playing well enough. He is our leader, he is our tone setter, at least he’s supposed to be. He went two quarters without scoring and he was embarrassingly bad on defense.

Again, he is not a bad player. He is good, and at times is very good. However, he is just too inconsistent, especially as games progress, and he is not giving effort defensively. Just tonight, he gave up the wide open three on the inbounds when his man didn’t move and the back door when he just didn’t try.

He isn’t our only problem, he isn’t our main problem, but damnit, he has to be better.

Jayson Tatum had 6 points tonight

Is he still a franchise player?

Jayson Tatum has been the best player on multiple teams that have made the conference finals. BI hasn’t played in a playoff game as his team’s best player. His effort defensively tonight, especially when going half the game without scoring, was inexcusable if you are trying to win. He has to have some accountability and come out with better, more consistent play throughout games if we are going to be a better, more consistent team.

I don’t think BI prevents those Celtics teams from going deep into the playoffs and I don’t think Tatum moves the needle all that much if you replaced BI with him.

I agree his quarter to quarter consistency is a problem, but it’s also a product of a team that our two top players are having to work insanely hard because everyone else is so non-complimentary and limited.

Late to this thread so I'll just start with the op.

quote:

But he's flawed imo. Severely.

This is off to a good start. Severely? How many guys in the league are flawless? You want to talk about severely flawed then talk about some of our bench players, not the all star.

quote:

I know we all want him to be KD-light and he has flashes but is that really his potential?

Is Kevin Durant his potential? No. I have have zero reason to think or expect him to be the 2nd best player in the league.

quote:

His turnovers are crazy. They're so stupid, I do think they're correctable. I mean most of them are just half-arse lazy passes that get stolen or him doing his Lonzo full-court impression which he sucks at

He averages 2.4 turnovers a game. That's nothing to complain about. That's less than almost every star you can think of. That's probably outside of the top 30 in the league, not even considering volume. You're making a big deal out of a non issue. I mean I guess he needs to average maybe 1 a game to make that ok for you?

quote:

If his max potential is just a volume scorer, I'm not sure he's what we want forever.

This is the the Pelicans. You had to give him the contract and make him a main guy going forward. It's not an organization that is going to draw top notch free agents. It doesn't matter what you want or if there are guys you would prefer over him. It's who we have and he had to be paid, bc every team in the league with cap space would have given him the same contract.

quote:

Can he get better defensively and with decision making and late-game shooting?

Of course.
