3rd Star or Detroit/Toronto/Suns approach for Pels?

With the Pels obviously needing to revamp their roster, the dilemma is which route do they take?

1. Acquire a 3rd star and in turn, have less depth, due to cap restrictions, and hope Griff can draft ready to contribute rookies/sign minimum FA's who can and use the MLE to find fringe starter/6th man who HAS TO outplay his contract; or

2. Utilize that money to build a complete roster with good bench depth like recent champions, Detroit '04, Toronto '19 and how the Suns, Hawks, Clippers, Nuggets, Mavs appear to have become real contenders this year?

Personally, I favor Option 2 for a number of reasons:
1. Cap flexibility
2. Team depth
3. Able to overcome injuries, possibly
4. Able to keep young players who develop into core pieces.
5. Team continuity --not having to retool the roster every year bc of all the 1yr. min. deals
6. Not having to hope quality vets choose the Pels strictly bc of Zion/BI/contender status, despite perceived negative location and market factors

I believe teams are realizing that depth is becoming more important especially bc of Covid and the last two condensed seasons, which has liekly contributed to all the injuries of star players in these playoffs.

Also, both options would require the Pels to draft well, and Griff has not had a good track record in selecting players, no matter the spot selecting in (#1 Bennett bust-- but I dont know if I can say other GM's wouldnt have done the same) but I rather Griff selecting earlier than later, if he's not using "GM" Langdon's supposed exceptional ability in scouting players.

The 3rd star option just has so much less margin of error and requires a considerable amount of luck in terms of injuries, signing vet players who are worth more than minimum contracts and willing to come to N.O. (never has happened), and it becoming mandatory that Griff hit on late 1sts/2nd rd picks who can come in and contribute right away with very few growing pains.

I’d rather more depth but I have no faith in David griffin acquiring the right depth so I’d say get a 3rd star

Do use trust FA players to come to N.O., on less than market value contracts, over the big market teams? Im not confident that good players choose N.O. over L.A., Miami, New York, etc. Especially now that it seems there is more parity in true Championship contenders since the fall of the GS dynasty.
Brooklyn showed that injuries to your 3 stars all year and in playoffs, even with more depth than customary of recent Big 3 teams and getting quality buy-out talent (B. Griffin), is not a guarantee.

Brooklyn couldnt have asked for anything more except health. Besides losing Kyrie and Harden hampered, the other reason they lost was bc they didnt have someone who Nash could trust, so they could give KD a break for a few minutes. Joe Harris not hitting his 3's due to nerves is the norm for that specific role player in the playoffs lately, i.e. Kyle Korver.

Same for Lebron and AD. Although Schroeder shite the bed as their 3rd option and Kuzma is officially garbage.

It's really tricky trying to get a 3rd star. Most team want trade a star until the last year of there contract so you also have to be certain that you can resign them.

If this third “star” is better than Ingram than 100% I would take that option. If this third “star” is about as good or worse than Ingram than no thanks.
