Widespread Panic is overrated.

Terrible drummer.
Chord structures are pathetic and predictable.
Lyrics are boring and cheesy.
JB's voice has gone downhill.
No respectable musician has ever praised them around me.
Schools told my old guitar player (his step brother) that there's no reason they should be big, just very lucky.
-Herring is an excellent guitar player.

WSP is more frat than Phish. Phish is a better band though.

I always liked Col Bruce Hampton's quote about Widespread Panic. "I can name a hundred bands that are better, but I don't want to hear them.". That's kinda how I feel about them. Their shows are big rock and roll parties, just people having fun listening to good tunes. Their song catalog is pretty good actually.
