Those were just an influential as the Blues. Jimmy Rodgers did blues also and was biggest blues artist of his time. But you could go further back to the old time music that originated from the british isles. Fiddlin' John Carson made some of the first recordings of traditional country music for the Okeh label.

Yeah, I'm pretty much just talking about what became widely popular, and got a lot of radio play. That's the stuff that influenced everything that came afterward.

Conway Twitty was raised in Helena, Arkansas.

But was born in Miss'ssippi, so they can claim him. Louisiana claims Buddy Guy and Louis Armstrong among others.

Yes as born in Friars Point and left after age 10 but the general rule is you go by where you are raised and not born. But you do have a cut off point and so it can be confusing. He started his first band the Phillips county ramblers at age 12. His band performed on a radio station KFFA in Helena in 1946. His origin story of his music career began in Helena.

Just to clarify that he is from Helena. They have the Conway Twitty days each year. Hell his stage name was named after Conway, Arkansas.

His real name was Harold Lloyd Jenkins -- he was named after this man:

Yes and he was struggling with his real name in the late 50s. So he had a named changed after Conway, Arkansas and Twitty, Texas. His career took off because his stage name was a better sell.
