Okay, those statements do not contradict.

I think it's that they are seen as a watered-down version of Radiohead,
this.

The comparisons between Radiohead and Coldplay is about like comparing Dimmu Borgir to Dwight Yokam.

I question whether you know the definition of contradict.

So that's why music critics constanly compare them.

I'm obviously being sarcastic
. But I like both bands and other than the British accents, I don't see much comparison.

Who is talking about plagiarism? You said if you wanted to listen to Radiohead you would, and I said Coldplay sounds absolutely nothing like Radiohead.

I dont get the comparison between the two... Not a huge Coldplay fan but they have some catchy tunes... I doesnt bother me if its played or someone likes them...
Funny thing, they came out at around the same time is Travis... I wouldve sworn that Travis would have become the bigger band... now their toiling away in obscurity and Coldplay is one of the biggest bands in the world..

YOU specifically quoted my statement about them not plagiarizing Radiohead in some failed "AHA!" attempt.
I don't think they sound anything like current Radiohead, but Chris Martin's vocal stylings started out very similar to Thom's iconic voice and reminded a LOT of people (enough that they have this reputation) of Radiohead's earlier works (Pablo Honey, The Bends).
If you think they sound nothing alike, cool. That's your opinion. I'm not going to go youtubing a bunch of garbage to prove my point. You'll just have to live with disagreeing.

Travis was around for almost 10 years before Coldplay.

Travis' debut record was 1997, the one that "broke" them was in 1999 (The Man Who)... Coldplay's (Parachutes) was 2000... thats why I said around the same time

They sound nothing like Radiohead. Coldplay actually makes good songs, and their singer doesn't whine. Radiohead has like 1 or 2 good songs. Coldplay more like 5-7.

Travis is way better than Coldplay.
I think a lot of the Coldplay hate stems from all the accusations of them stealing other people's songs for the Viva La Vida album.

Given your input in that other thread, I'll put it this way:
Coldplay sucks 15 kinds of arse
